Water tank sagging

So I just got back from my first trip in the new (to me) Greyhawk 31FS. The 35 gallon water tank is pretty much a joke. I knew going in it was going be an issue for the family and I as our last coach had 90 gallon capacity and we mainly dry camp.

We were extra conservative over our three day outing to see how far we could make it last. We ran "out" toward the end of our last day. No biggie...we made it home.

I still felt like we ran "out" too quickly, so today I got under the coach to inspect the water tank. I noticed that there was still quite a bit of water in it because the tank is sagging, causing the water in the tank to be lower than the pick up line. It looks like a pretty cheap tank (no surprise) and thinned walled, so I'll attribute the sagging to that.

My point is I'm sure I'm not the first owner to notice this. My question is what have other owners done to correct this problem??

Probably need to fabricate some type of metal strap and hopefully find a spot to tac weld it up

I've noticed it too. I think the plastic is a bit thin for the weight of the water. I'll be good with it as long as it doesn't crack. Keeping my fingers crossed. It's possible to fabricate a truss down the middle, but we're in winter now so I'll scratch my head over it in the Spring.

Saw a post a while ago that an owner discovered his straps were coming loose and one was gone.

I am pretty sure he added some as part of the repair. I checked mine when I brought it home, kind of flimsy but appear ok.

In an emergency you might consider a load strap until you can get it repaired at a welding shop or Rv repair place.

Ours is like that too. We never dry camp, but some of the sites we get are power only, so we have to use the onboard tank and pump. I drain it between uses, but because of the bulge, it never drains completely. I’ve been thinking of a solution, perhaps a thin crescent shape of wood or plastic between the support strap and tank bottom, helping to reverse the bulge. The trailer is in storage right now, so I’ll take a look in the spring if this can be done.

Thanks for the responses. This is something I will fix myself. The way I see it, there are a couple solutions.

1. A completely new water tank that is adequate in strength to not bulge
2. Run a cross member directly under the tank to prevent the bottom from sagging
3. insert a bulk head fitting in the lowest part of the tank and re-plumb the pick up line.

BTW, there is one advantage to the saggy bottom...more capacity. But it doesn't matter if you can't access the water. I'm not sure which route I'll go yet, but I'll keep you posted since others have experienced the same problem.
