We are getting ready to take a new Class A from Illinois to south Texas. Never waited this long to get out of the frozen north to warmer weather. The question is, what tools do you use to route your way based on potential storms coming at us? I can take the shortest,fastest route that may have ice storms, or take a longer route by going straight south to route 10 and go west. Where do you go the get accurate timely weather information before you leave and on a daily basis. Thanks for any suggestions .

I use the Web Page for Intellicast and check it regularly.

You can also get the 10 day forecasts for cities along your route, on that web page.

When we ran from weather from Canada to SoCal I checked USNWS every night and every morning.

We dodged some by only a few hours with mid-course corrections but it saved us from some very nasty events.

I use WHIZ Mobile weather app, it's available on android and apple, you can even play the storm movements st see the intensity, loaded with options that you can see and set for your needs, it also tracks your location so you see weather around you.

Last fall driving from Texas to Nashville I used it while traveling with a major storm, I was able to pull off the road and wait and watch the severe part of the storm pass me, while sitting, you could hardly see because the rain was so intense.

I highly recommend it, we use it at work as one of the tools to keep,the helicopters flying safe by avoiding the storms
