Garner State Park - Saturday night dance under the stars and float the Frio River
Pedenales River State Park - Got a fly rod?
Inks Lake State Park - Feed the deer, fish, do the marble water slide
South Llano River State Park - Off I10, near Junction, lesser used park with history and wild critters
Lost Maples State Park - Wonderful Fall colors

Make SP reservations and enjoy Texas.

We're staying in Fredericksburg, Texas for a few days, and we're having a good time so far. We spent the day in Fredericksburg yesterday to get a feel for the town and had a great German dinner. Today we went to San Antonio, saw the Alamo and spent several hours at the Riverwalk, including taking a River Barge Ride. The Riverwalk is really unique and pretty. We're glad we went. They're having a cool spell, so the weather was perfect. We've never experienced such scary entrance and exit ramps at the interstate (you have to yield to oncoming traffic or they yield to you...yikes).

Tomorrow we're going through the National Museum of the Pacific War and Tuesday the LBJ Ranch and maybe a winery. It's been a really great stay. From here we have no idea. We've decided not to go to Big Bend National Park. We were going to head to Corpus Christi, but we're a little worried about the aftermath of Harvey. Thanks again for some good suggestions.

Then you must visit the one-and-only town of Luckenbach, located about 10 miles from Fredericksburg....., always a good time!

We returned from our trip to Texas and beyond on November 1. Just wanted to give you a recap of our amazing two-month trip. After Fredericksburg we headed east mid-September in the wake of the hurricanes. We ended up in Lillian Alabama near Pensacola, FL. The weather was so perfect that we stayed for a week. Then we headed up to Great Smoky Mountains National Park and the Blue Ridge Parkway, drove the whole 469 miles with lots of other stops in between all the way up to Shenandoah National Park. We saw so much beautiful country through Tennessee, North Carolina, Virginia...waterfalls, caves, fall foliage, etc. We ended up in Gettysburg, PA which was a great place to stop a trip which we could have extended even longer if we hadn't been fearful of the long trip back to Wyoming with the threat of snow and high winds.
