What is your secondary electric heater

As most of you know my '16 Greyhawk MV has the propane furnace, and the heat pump up top. We have had an opportunity to experience both and find that they served us very well.

BUT, I know that there may be a time when a good, strong electric heater will need to be used when it's too cold for the heat pump, and we don't want to use up all the propane.

SO, What is your strong electric heater of choice ....???

We use a digital controlled Vornado. Ours is old and I am sure they have newer/ better models but this one has served us well for many years.

This is the one I would get.

Make sure, whatever unit you get, that it has a tip over safety switch. There are still units out there that don't have them.

We use the Delohghi Micathermic Heater.

It has no moving parts, is silent, has two heat settings and can be mounted directly on the wall. We have ours mounted in the bedroom where the TV would normally go. Great for sleeping with no noise from fan or it turning on and off.

I found a video on Youtube that demonstrates the heater:

We use a small ceramic heater. Like the one a person might have under their desk at work. I thought for sure it was WAY too small to effectively heat the RV, but it really does a great job. It keeps the furnace from kicking on at all in most cases, but if we have it set too low, the propane furnace will kick on briefly to "catch up". If the furnace kicks on more than once or twice during the night, I'll usually get up and turn the little space heater up a little bit.

If we ran that little thing full-blast, we could make a sauna in there. I know because DW has done it before!!

ETA: Of course, this assumes you have some good source of shore power. Even that little heater eats up power, and there's no way it would run off our battery for very long, even if we DID have an inverter to run it.

+1 for the Vornado. 5 Year warranty and it's quiet.

I find the small ceramics fail after a year or so. went thru 3 of them.

I use this oil filled heater, it goes from 1to 10 and if the wind is not blowing and outside temp is high 40s-low50s it usually does fine at setting 5-6 with no propane use.

We have an oil filled propane heater and a small ceramic heater with a digital thermostat. With the two toddlers we haven't done as much cold weather camping as we used to, but hopefully in a couple of years we can revive that tradition.

Cold weather camping can be fun... going up to NYC for Christmas, camping in the mountain snow, etc!

We use oil filled electric heaters smaller in size but with the classic look and feel of old steam filled radiators.

I bought this one from Walmart. https://www.walmart.com/ip/Fan-Heater-Black/53017087 I know it's cheap but it does an outstanding job of keeping the living area of the trailer nice and warm, not that noisy either and has the proper safety features. Of course, it doesn't get much use because we don't really camp when it's really cold outside.
