I couldn't find the sleeve on Amazon. There is a reinforced hinge mentioned earlier in the thread, but it doesn't work w/ the N8x. I ordered the sleeve from The Norcold Guy website.

We had the door fall off our n8x as well.

Our fix was to fabricate a metal hinge bracket to the bottom of the door. The bracket was made using an angle bracket from menards. It was attached with 3 screws.

Yeah, the bottom hinge is cracked on mine too. Looks like a fabricating job. I'm looking at the underside of the door and does anybody know what the core of the door is made of. What will the new mount be screwed into?

This Guy says thanks

As far as what the core of the door is made of, my door was a plastic shell filled with expanding foam.

[QUOTE=Jopopsy;950810]I ordered it. I always reinforced the bracket on any Norcold I've had. I often wonder if the hinges are prone to cracking b/c Jayco puts the wood insert on the door to fancy it up.

That wood insert definitely puts more weight on that bracket thus limiting what you can put in the door. I always empty my door before travel even with the new door I had to order after the original broke. I did put the reinforced bracket on the new door. No issues since, but I still empty the door before travel.

Someone on JOF gave me mine years ago.
I did that with my extra bracket. I don't remember who I sent it to, but if was a JOF member.

Door hinges

Ditto to what grumpy said, my doors came off the first day after picking my new North Point up. The company is aware of the problem, they have a fix, but choose not to ship them with the original refrigerator.

Welcome to the new generation. No pride in their work or product.

Do any of you have the Norcold NA8LX model, which began production in April of 2018? If so, do you know if it has the plastic hinges? We replaced our N821 model recently, which was nothing but trouble for the 3 years we had it. I replaced the hinges in the N821 before the door had a chance to fall off and Norcold replaced both doors early on, but I wasn't sure if the new NA8LX was still manufactured with the bad hinges. Thanks!

Sure enough, if you blow up the photo I can see a crack forming.

Therefore I bought the protection bracket off amazon.

I am skeptical of another plastic bracket.

You can find videos on YouTube of folks that made a metal add-on bracket that screws to the bottom of the door.

In addition to the Norcold rip-off plastic bracket, I am going to design and fab a metal one to keep in the RV in case the Norcold one fails while I am underway.

I will share the design when done.

The first photo shows the start of a crack and the second (upside down) is the lower hinge.
....................................

When my hinge cracked in the first 2 months of owning my current trailer I cut a piece of aluminum the same width and 2 inches longer than the bottom of the door. I drilled a hole to accomodate the pin on the hinge and then screwed the aluminum to the bottom of the door. This was far more solid than the original plastic hinge that broke and is till in place. Repair cost under $5.00,

Norcold NV8 lower hinge bracket

Here is a post of my refer fix .....
Bottom line:
  • Bracket did not fit (no surprise but I was hoping)
  • Made two styles of the bracket. One made from the Norcold bracket one made from shelf bracket.

Template included.
