What to put in your new MH...

So I have had my Seneca now for almost a month now and have compiled a list of things that I have added, put on board, or modified to make the unit much more usable in various environments. For some who are upgrading, you may already have some of these items to transfer over; but for those who are starting out with a MH as their first RV, some of these items are a must have to make your life way easier. Some of these items are going to be a DUH for many of us, but for some it could be an oh yea that is a good idea. That is why this list is pretty comprehensive.

Outside (basement compartment) stuff:
  • RV Leveling Blocks (to keep some weight on axles if leveling takes a wheel off the ground)
  • Water Hose
  • Pressure Regulator (prob one of the most important items to have!)
  • Sewer Hose (even if you have a macerator)
  • Coax cable
  • Latex or mechanic gloves (you will love these when dumping or gassing up).
  • Spare container of DEF (new diesel engines)
  • 3-4 gallons of RV antifreeze or air compressor (during colder months if you have to winterize in an emergency.)
  • 6 ft folding table
  • Camping chairs
  • Outdoor mat
  • lighted stakes
  • Extension cord
  • Step Ladder
  • Collapsible canopy
  • 4x 5 gallon buckets (holds stuff while traveling, but also to fill with water and hold down canopy while boondocking on lakes on windy days.)
  • 100 ft or so of rope and or 550 cord.
  • 2 ft level (double check accuracy of auto level system)
  • small took kit (hammer, screwdrivers, pliers, socket set, etc)
  • Grill
  • Tire/wheel covers

Inside:
  • Trash can (find the right size for your RV...mine out of my 5th wheel was too big and it would not fit under a cabinet, due to this it just sat out and dumped over while moving)
  • Entrance rug/mat
  • Silverware, flatware, etc
  • Coffee Maker
  • Toaster
  • Paper towel holder
  • Pots, pans, etc
  • standard spices and cooking essentials (flour, sugar, salt, etc)
  • Sheets and Pillows (You normally get the top comforter, and decor pillows but nothing else)
  • Hangers
  • Phone/device chargers
  • Standard bathroom toiletries
  • Toilet paper
  • toilet paper holder (if needed)
  • Towel hangers (additional ones to mount to wall)
  • Electric blanket
  • Sleeping bags or spare bedding for guests
  • Cleaning supplies.
  • Broom/dustpan
  • Swiffer sweeper

Upgrades/Mods/Corrections:
  • ScanGuage D (Diesel information guage)
  • Cab window shades (to replace the use of the cab curtain...helps when seeing the dash radio as well as heat transfer.
  • Freightliner storage console (Seneca specifc...xmas gift for me.)
  • CB Radio

I am sure that I may be forgetting a few things, but for now this list should work and hopefully help the new camper have an idea of what to get for their new rig.

Just a few more things.
We didn't see these listed. Apologies if they are duplicate.

Outside: water bandit, spare fuses, dogbone power adapters, lubricants, sewer donut, tablecloth, fuel container, water container, trash can, fishing poles and tackle box, kayaks.

Inside: candles, puzzles, cards, crossword, spare reading glasses, paper plates bowls and plastic utensils, lighter and matches.

Another upgrade we have added to all our motorhomes is the Dirt Devil CV1500 central vacuum with Rug Rat attachment.

Don't forget 'good' single malt scotch and/or beer. Wine for the DW...
These are most important.....

Do you use a telescoping ladder? My coach doesn't have an outside ladder to attach anything too and the understorage bins are too small for a standard step ladder.

Just a couple of items we keep in our TT:

Grilling tools: Long handled tongs and fork.
Cook's knife (all purpose kitchen knife)
Small stone or steel to keep all knives sharp

Expansion on the liquor... Keep what your good friends like on hand.

My Seneca does have an outside ladder for roof access. I have a standard step ladder that fits in one of the front compartments which has a small passthrough area. I use it primarily to get access to the fridge access panel and washing windows etc.

My wife really wants a vac...I am going to have to look into this one.

Completely agreed!

With enough of those two, everything else will become "less necessary". At least for awhile.

Mike, your "ultimate sound system" photo from misc. album just popped up in the random photos at the top of the page for me. I'm hoping you keep ear plugs for good friends on hand as well.

BTW - if that thing is mounted on your TT, remind me to never camp within 2 or 3 counties of you...

For the rest of you, please don't load one of these in your TT!

bank63 I think those are pics he found on the internet. They gave me a good laugh. Thanks for posting the link! I especially like the flying Pinto. I hear those things really flew like a rocket when rear ended? Oh and the hitch extension on that Dodge Caravan, scary!

To the OP, I would add 1 or more campground directories or a laptop computer or tablet for researching places to stay and interesting routes to take.
