Which wires?

Hello,

These cables are over the entrance door cabinet on Redhawk 24B. I'm trying to find a 12V continues power for my LevelMatePro+ and run a 12V for awning LED lights.
You help as always is much appreciated.

You would do best to use a voltage meter, however where you see a black and white wire, the black is positive and the white is negative (most commonly). A voltage meter could help you determine if you have one that is hot all the time or not. JimD has an excellent document regarding RV electrical systems as well as how to use a vom (voltage ohm meter). You can search for both in the search menu. ~CA

I found the awning wires black and red. How do I connect LED awning strip? Do I have to install a switch to turn the light on separate from awning or if I open the awning they will stay on?
Which wires I would connect my LevelMate to stay on continuously.
Thank you

Yes, you will need to install a switch, perhaps near where the outside porch light switch is located. In fact, if you want the LED strip on whenever the porch light is on, then you could grab your 12v from behind the porch light (however in doing so the leds would be on when the porch light is on and that may be when the awning is not deployed, so you would want the strip to be outside of the awning, perhaps underneath.

Also, I am not sure which LevelMate you have, I think the newer ones need to plug into a USB port, if so then you need something like this item. https://www.amazon.com/Charger-Femal...550035&sr=8-10

IF your wiring is like mine, the grey and white wires going to the antenna booster/switch are 12 volts. The gray is + and the white is - . Verify with your voltmeter.

Thank you all for help and suggestions.
I found that the white loop wire is constant 12V and two black wires connected together are ground.
I will run a switch under the cabinet with all the wiring for the LED strip under the awning and connect the LevelMatePRO+ directly to white 12V wire so it’s ON all the time.

Beware though, white is "supposed" to be negative and black should be positive. This is a standard that has been in place for a very long time. I suspect that it may not always be followed, however and especially with factory wiring I have not seen where what I am describing is not the case. Are you using a meter that shows if you are reverse connected, many show the voltage with a minus if the red lead on the meter is on the negative side of the current. ~CA

That's one reason I liked the old school voltmeters with the actual meter with the pointer needle. If you read negative voltage, the needle would swing left.

I agree with the colors but I’ve checked few times with voltage meter to make sure. From other post I’ve learned that this wire was left intentionally there for optional awning LED strip.

Level mate pro uses coin battery 3.2 volt I used 12v dc to 3.3v dc converter https://www.amazon.com/SMAKN%C2%AE-C.../dp/B00ODL140M if you put 12 volts to it you might fry it. I just saw this post hope not to late you can solder or use one of these https://www.amazon.com/RAZ-Imports-M.../dp/B0052GAFMA I hope it’s not to late

12v source.

How about at the intertainment center. Use the 12v outlet or 120v outlet with a 12v transformer. I have the LevelMatePRO but mine does not have the option for 12v. Love it though.
