Why there is no lock for fuel tank?
Why there is no lock for motorhome fuel tank? anybody can open it from outside? When you sleep inside motorhome, if somebody mess with fuel tank, it would be very dangerous.
For a regular car, it can be opened only from inside car.

Some cars have that inside latch, most don’t.

You can get a locking gas cap if it worries you. My Jeep does not have one either.

Regular cars also open from the outside. Not all cars open from inside. You want a locking cap they can be purchased from any auto parts store.

Can a small door with lock be installed to cover fuel tank? just like other tiny outside storage compartment.

I am thinking that there is no difference from Ford to Chevy, to Jeep. The hole is the same size on all of them.

I swapped out the factory cam lock wit a combination cam lock to the fuel door on our Seneca to deter being messed with and not to have to mess with another key.

Greyhawk does not have cover for fuel tank. Does seneca have it, or you installed the cover yourself?

Seneca comes with a fuel door. Original posted didn’t mention this was about a Greyhawk.

Go to your local parts store with the year, size, and make of your chassis (Ford, GM), and take your old cap with you for comparison.
I'd bet you can get the right one there.

They have never had fuel doors that lock, at least since 2001 when we bought our 3230 DESINGNER. As other's have said many cars do not have locking doors or caps many have push to release, all from the outside.

If your chassis is a Ford, then a locking gas cap for a Ford will work. That is what I use and it works just fine.

Usually it will not happen, but it is better to not allow others to access it in the first place. Also noticed that water tank does not have lock either. Why RV manufacturers do not have safety in mind when designing mobile homes. In SB home, no body can access our water and fuel/gas from outside.
How to install a door covering both fuel and water tanks? Will the installation cause wall delamination? Thanks.

My Greyhawk is on a Ford E-450 Cut-Away chassis. It includes a 55 gallon unleaded regular gas tank. That’s a lot of gas when full for a gas thief to siphon. Spend $5 and get a locking gas cap. Only downside is I forget to take the ignition keys out when I refuel.

Buy a locking fuel cap.
https://www.amazon.com/s?k=locking+f...l_7dn7ohxble_e
The little tin doors to cover fuel fillers may or may not have an inside release, but they are not security. The little, cable-operated door release is not a theft deterrent. It can be defeated with a common screwdriver.

My Ford F4500 Class C had the standard gas cap so to prevent theft or someone putting water in the tank I got a locking gas cap.

Not sure about U.S.A. vehicles, but my last two trucks with Canadian specifications have a check valve that stops gas from coming out the fill pipe if the vehicle ends up on its side or upside down. I tried to siphon off gas when selling them but in both cases, the siphoning pipe was stopped by the check valve so I couldn't. Perhaps all newer vehicles have this check valve now. Both my wife's 2017 Honda and my 2016 ram, and my 2019 ram have this valve. So no point in a lockable gas cap.
