AAA sent a local Mobile Tire Repair, although it took them a long time to find someone because they were looking for a mobile tire repair company that could tow the Motorhome in case it wasn't safe for the mobile repairman to change on the side of the road. I told them it would be safe and the mobile repair company they ultimately sent didn't have the ability to tow the Motorhome.

AAA told me that I had to have a mounted spare, they wouldn't cover a new tire and they wouldn't cover the tire repairman to remove the blown tire from the rim and mount a spare tire onto that rim, had to be a fully mounted spare that the repairman could just swap on and off.

Keep in mind this is AAA South with Plus level service and the RV add-on. Your mileage might vary in a different AAA Region.

You say your motorhome came with a full size spare mounted on the rear bumper.

Curious what year is your Greyhawk and did you buy it new or used?

A spare is not even listed as a option on Jayco's website.

We bought our 2009 Greyhawk 31FS new in 2009. Back then all Greyhawks and Greyhawk Sports came with full size spares. I noticed a few years ago that Greyhawks no longer come with a spare.

I didn't realize that AAA will end up towing the motorhome if there is no spare ready to mount. This makes the case for having a spare different than I previously thought.

Keep in mind that every AAA Region is different. What my region does (AAA South) may not be the same as the AAA Region you are in. Also, if you are outside your region, you may not be able to get the same coverage if the region you are in doesn't offer the same services.

Check and make sure your AAA Region will tow the Motorhome if you have a flat tire and no spare.

well that's the troubling part. I don't want to chance it. If I can get it towed, great and have someone else do it. I'm more than willing to change it myself. I usually bring all the tools anyway.

I'm not sure about this. Doesn't make any sense...how do they tow a motorhome with a flat tire???

You can always remove one of the rear duals and use it as a spare for a short distance. I've seen that done without problems. Or remove the flat from the rear and drive on a single to somewhere close for repairs.

You are aware that the rear and front wheels are all the same just flipped around will work front or rear.

Sorry, but I'm not letting anyone tow my motorhome with a flat tire.

I'm more thinking about renters, not really myself. I'd like to know what AAA or good sam is going to do if/when anyone has a tire go flat. Haven't had an issue yet.

Though, I'm definitely considering getting a spare just in case someone is in the middle of nowhere and they want to tow it 300 miles to the closest place rather than swapping a tire.

With AAA, the member is covered no matter what vehicle you are in. It doesn't have to be your vehicle. The catch is, the member has to be there when the tow service or tire repair service comes. If you aren't with the vehicle, you may not get service. About 50% of the time, I have been asked for my AAA card.

A card holder must call but the vehicle owner does not have to be present, in our experience.

I remember reading that the card member should be present. I haven't had to test it yet. We have AAA for ourselves and our other vehicles as well. I had to call good sam one time for an "event," but it didn't involve a tire. Man, those mobile mechanics are really expensive.

I'm just trying to mitigate any ugly issues if some renter blows a tire in BFE and there is no spare to swap on. If renters get the run around that doesn't look good for me.

Not so worried about the liability of towing or damage. I have good insurance and GPS track the RV when it goes out.

We like it for many reasons but have never wanted with multiple motorhomes and years to test it for its blowout functionality.
