Winterizing

Having to winterize mid-season after a Covid aborted trip south and I want to be sure I get it right (first time on. Redhawk 24B)..
I drained the waterheater, the water filter canister (what a pain!), fresh water tank, blew out all the lines, faucets and shower head (after using the low point drains). Blew out the outside shower line and head.
Did I miss anything? Previous experience tells me that I don’t need to suck anti-freeze into the lines if I blow them out, but I did put anti-freeze in all the drains, the black water tank and the toilet.
It’s going to get cold around here tonight.

Winterize toilet

I have always been told that it is wise not only to put antifreeze in the black water tank, but also to leave some in the bottom of the bowl to keep the toilet seal from drying out.

Not sure why. I purge the water line with antifreeze, and it goes down into the tank.

Make sure your waste tanks are fully drained before winterizing. On a older 5er with exposed grey drain plumbing I had a small amount of grey water that sat at the gate valve, froze, and spilit 6" of pipe. Anti freeze didn't make it far enough or was too diluted.

As far as anti freeze preventing "drying out" of a toilet seal, it seems mine always evaporates and leaves a pink residue, but I only leave a inch or so in the bowl. A light coat of silicone grease or a spritz of 303 protectant would likely do a better job of keeping that seal pliable.

If you have a black tank sprayer connection, you might want to purge with some anti-freeze to prevent an inside wall line split.
