Winterizing 24b

Hey there Jayco family,

First time winterizing our Jayco red Hawk 24B it’s been a lot of research for information it just doesn’t seem like it’s there no diagrams and nothing specific to our RV the 24b, I have an implemented some information around bypassing the water heater but I’m now trying to find out after taking the filter off is there a way to bypass the freshwater tank or when I utilize the winter sanitize setting does that automatically bypass the freshwater tank??

On ours, when the valves are set to Winterize, the freshwater tank is bypassed.

One way to tell for sure, is if you see Pink stuff coming out of the faucets and you're only on your first or second gallon of antifreeze, consider the tank bypassed.

If you're on Gallon 35 before Pink Stuff shows up in the faucets, then, well...

We don't have the exact same unit, but what tripped me up the first time was the placement of some of the shut-off valves behind "access panels." Those are the panels on the lower-inside walls that look like vents, with four Phillips-head screws. Good idea to take those off and see what's behind them in any case, but two of those hid our fresh and hot water bypass valves.

The winterization process is very similar across class c RVs, and you have been getting good advice from others here. If you need information specific to your model, you should check your owner's manual as well. If you do not have one these can be downloaded for free from Jayco's website. You didn't mention the year of your RV, but you can select and download copies of older models as well. https://www.jayco.com/manuals/

Good Luck!

Welcome to Jayco Owner's Forum from New Hampshire. Please update your post to indicate the year of your Red Hawk 24B. The instructions you seek will likely be very different based upon which year it was made. Alternatively, if you have a Nautilus control panel, knowing which version is important.
1. drain your camper
2. fill it with antifreeze (BYPASS ON)
The specific instructions vary based upon which camper you have. Before you begin you'll want to drain all the water out of your camper.. open low point drains, all the faucets PLUS release pressure on your water heater THEN remove the anode (or drain plug) so your water heater is empty. Basic info about winterizing includes setting your controls so your water pump will pull from the Antifreeze jug and fill up your camper's pipes. Of course, you don't want antifreeze in your hot water heater, so you'll want to find out how to BYPASS it.
