Just to bump this up - I ended up installing the Dexter EZ Flex suspension system. This system replaces the solid mounted triangle leaf perch with one that flexes and provides independent axle movement over bumps. https://www.etrailer.com/Trailer-Leaf-Spring-Suspension/Dexter-Axle/K71-652-00.html
I can say this product is worth every penny. While I had the wheels off I installed Goodyear tires. My camper is smooth as glass. Living in metro NY means I tow over the worst roads in the country so for me, it’s cheap insurance. 100% satisfied and it really, really changed the ride quality and handling of my trailer.
I am very interested in doing the same to my Autumn Ridge. I am not familiar with your trailer model; what are your weight specifications, axle ratings, etc.?
I have Dexter axles rated at 3500 pounds and my GVWR is 7700 pounds.
Is the listed price for a pair? Did you do the install yourself?
I also installed the GY Endurance tires about 3 months ago...so much better than the Rainers that came on the trailer.
Yes. Install was easy. Hardest part was jacking up the camper!
I ordered from E-trailer and they were great. You can call them and give your trailer specs and they tell you which kit to get. The biggest concern is your axle spacing... there are different kits for different spacing.
Again, I highly recommend the kit. You get replacement shackles with grease zerks, upgraded shackles and bolts, etc. it’s top notch. Only thing I noticed is it dropped my ride height by about an inch. I think the upgraded shackles are a little longer to allow more axle articulation so it adds a bit of drop. I think my trailer rides better now with the slightly lower height.
Thanks for the response. The videos make it look easy enough. Did you have to press in the shackle bolts? One video I saw the guy had to use a ball joint press to fully seat the shackle bolts.
If you didnt, you probably should have, installed a wet bolt kit. Worth every penny there too and very easy to install.
Yep. The dexter kit includes new heavy duty shackles (twice as thick as OEM) and upgrades bolts with zerk fittings. The center hanger also has grease zerks.
