Any of the inverter generators are quiet. Honda seems to have the most fans here in this group as well as others. Yamaha, Champion and Predator all have differing opinions. I have a Predator 3500 watt with only a about 10 hours on it that is doing OK. It runs my 13.5K Ac and other appliances. Just have to be careful not to run 2 high draw items a the same time. I did have a rough idle issue but that has been resolved.

When I purchased our Yamaha 3000iSEB generator I asked the dealer which he has had better experiences with, a Honda or a Yamaha. He replied, "which color do you like better, blue or red?" I like the idea of the extra starting boost the Yamaha provides so went with that. I also like the gas shutoff valve on the Yamaha so I can run the carburetor dry to minimize potential carb problems from gas left in it; maybe the Honda has that also.
Both the Honda and the Yamaha suffer from one big problem though...they are heavy! I almost went with two 2,000 watt units but I just didn't want to have two generators.

I believe it will take two Honda 2000s.Just put my Honda up for sale switching to the Predator 3500.Half the costs. On my last generator we put 600 hours on it in eight years.Worth the dollar gamble to us!

Champion. 1/2 the cost and then you get a 30 amp RV outlet which you do not with the Honda's. Same decible level

Champion 2800/3100 Watt inverter/generator here, 365 hours and starts at first pull, half a Honda investment.

Champion Model #75537i 3100-Watt
I purchased this over the Honda & Yamaha because...
$871.99 @ Home Depot = Much less expensive
Remote Electric Start = Great feature you don't get from most others.
The only downside to the Champion is a little louder when it's under heavy load and the wheels don't roll over rough terrain very well.

I boondock exclusively for work. Last TT I had a champion remote start 3500/4000 (non-inverter) and it had over 1500 hours when I sold it with the camper. Never missed a day and started right up on cold mornings.
Why champion? Because I don't think there is anything in those Hondas (sorry guys) worth that much money. The champion has a remote electric start and it delays output until engine is ready for load and takes it away before engine shut down; I hit the clicker in the morning and go make coffee, no going outside to start. It has a THREE year unlimited hours warranty so you can have 9 years of worry free operation for the price of the Honda.
I purchased a 3100/3400 inverter champion with remote start this time as it is much more efficient than the diesel genset and lets me use with sensitive electronics. It is enough to run one A/C or heat pump. Very happy with the gen and its manageable to move around. I did switch to Mobil 1 after first oil change.

Yamaha
I got a new Yamaha 6300 IDSE.
Have a LWB truck so I place it up by the cab.I built a dolly so it is easy to roll around. When running it is so quiet you can sleep in the bedroom with truck attached.Much more quiet than a conventional "lawn mower" type. However more $ too.
Runs all night on a tankful of gas and will power both my 15000 BTU A/C's, microwave , TV and everything else.

All the inverters are quiet. Which one is quieter is not really that noticeable unless you test each one with a load. Even then, I'm not sure it's that much of a differance.
Do some homework with youtube, google it, read customer reviews etc...
Some things to look for that you have to decide what's important to you:
How much do you have to spend? Tank size(run time), Remote start, warranty(very important), reliability(doesn't do any good to have a nice shiny quiet unit only to have issues with it), service availability(how close is the nearest dealer), weight(do you want a heavy (100-175lbs) or two lighter easier to carry units 45lbs each), will this need to be easily moved? is it staying in the back of your truck? Are there other campers nearby that will be affected? Are you all by yourself? any adapters needed to use it for your purpose? Does it have a window to view fuel level, does it have a delay in overload(when AC units first start), will you be installing a "Soft start" on your AC unit? Can the smaller units be hooked in parallel, are the cables included? does it have a 30amp outlet that matches your RV plug? does it have a built-in battery charger and cables?
Than again, you could just pick your favorite color, Red, Blue, Yellow etc.....
I personnally have a nice pretty Blue one (2400). Has been flawless.
Good luck, let us know what you decide and why.

We have been Honda people fore ever.Maybe partly because Honda and Yamaha had the only inverter generators. These 15K AC units need 2900 watts to start them.I figure we need a generator only to last 5-600 hours.Price difference is huge.Got my Honda 2000 on craigs list.Gonna try Champion! Thanks @ Happy New Years from Glamos!
