Bringing Firewood (infestation?) vs fire logs

I recently visited several campgrounds in Colorado. A lot of them and all the state parks were no fires. But where fires were allowed there is also the problem of bringing in firewood being a way to also bring some kind of infestation. Many try to ban it or fine you if they catch you.

During a visit to Menards ( like Lowes or Home Depot, but better) I purchased some compressed sawdust firewood cubes. Not pretty, but roughly the same price of less per pound and fully dried out. No wax or paper, just cubes of compressed hardwood sawdust.

I brought them home and tried them out and at $2.50 for 21 pounds they are a great alternative to buying and hauling "real" firewood that might have insects, might not be dry and take up 2 or 3 times as much space.

I think they will be welcome at most campgrounds that allow an open fire these days.

That sounds like an alternative for NY state also. Our state parks don't allow transporting firewood more than 50 miles, and some of the private campgrounds won't let you bring in any at all. We're battling the Emerald Ash Borer, and the Spotted Lantern Fly is showing up now.

Few years ago I bought a pack of something just like your describe from Menards. They just would not burn. I had to break them up and add them to a decently burning fire to make something happen.
