Camera *upgrade* compatible with RV-BBT601?

Hi,

I bought a used Alante 31v with the Garmin RV-BBT601 wired up to a rear camera.

I hate the rear camera view. I literally can't see anything at all at night (the entire screen is bright grey) and it's useless at night and fairly crappy/fuzzy during the day as well.

Is there such a thing as a better camera that I could use that would help?

I'd prefer just to re-use the existing (analog?) wiring and the same head unit/screen, than disconnect everything and put in a new wireless system with yet one more screen to put up on the dash.

Do you have a favorite camera upgrade? Or is unviewable/washed out grey at night the state of the art for cameras these days?

You are not the only one to have this issue, see this THREAD.

The camera system is made by Voyager. The Garmin Fusion only has one video input, there is a camera module in the dash that switches the cameras to the Garmin Fusion. The Alante has the basic camera. Voyager does have better cameras, but do not know if they will resolve your issue. See Post #3, it has more details.

In my research, the Voyager camera uses a CEC connector at the camera's and module. If you can find a better camera with the CEC connections, there will be no wire changes needed.

Voyager does sell adapters for their system for other camera's, like Sony & CabCam. You can see the adapters in their accessories section HERE

Thank you!

This was very useful! I admit that I didn't manage to find the previous threads with my search, and I appreciate you pointing them out to me.
