WeberQ adapter hose failure?

So first day out of the house in awhile I go to set up the WeberQ with the 6501 adapter hose and noticed the small while plastic collar inside the Type1/acme adapter (side that attaches to propane tank) is cracked and falling out. I also discover that without it the hose will not seat properly, nor will the propane flow to my grill. Weber, Amazon, Walmart, et al all want about $32 to replace this hose. So before I do this, a few questions:

1. Anyone else experience this failure? seems to be fairly common based on the online reviews.
2. Anyone find a way to repair (o-ring, new acme 1 attachment) or am I stuck buying a new hose?
Or is there an alternative hose option out there?

(Fortunately a few disposable propane canisters saved the braut grill at camp)

If the hose doesn’t have the regulator on it, any 1lb to 20lb hose should work. About $12 on Amazon. Doesn’t have to be Weber brand.

I have a Weber Q220, I just changed out the gas regulator due to oil build up when I used a hose adaptor to my 20 lb tank. So now I am just running 1 lb cyl as recommended by Weber. Now I have the BBQ heating like it is supposed to.

Figured there was something out there. Just couldn't figure out the best search terms. Thanks!

Mine is adapted to a QC at the grill end. No problems with the Acme end.
