16' 29.5 BHDS Outdoor Fridge

I've noticed that the outside fridge doesn't get real cold. I have the dial on almost the coldest, and it was reading 50 degrees on the inside thermometer I have in it. Has anyone gotten the same results that its not that cold? The fridge I have has a logo PM on the front of it. Not sure if they use different models.

How long was it running before you checked the temperature? I think they need at least 24 hours to cool. If warm items are placed inside, it could take even longer.

Its been plugged into shore power at my house. I filled it up on Friday night and on Saturday around 5pm, it was reading this temp. I did load it up with about 10 warm beers, and I had about 12 cold ones and some bottles of water in there from a previous trip

Our experience is different. Our outside fridge usually the quickest one to cool down (over the inside one.) We keep jugs of water in it and it's been so cold that we have to dial it back. I think we made some ice cubes in it once. The outside fridge does take quite a bit of beating, during tow. To stop it from bouncing, we put a plastic bin on top of the fridge. So, it can wedge up against the shelf above, which kept it from bouncing. The little bracket Jayco added to the foot of the fridge popped off its screw by our second towing.

So, I'm thinking you may want to have your fridge looked at?

When I first loaded it up and turned it on I had the same feeling of inadequate cooling. I adjusted the temperature a few different times, then my water bottles were freezing. Then I had to turn it back some.

It does ok now that I know where to adjust it to. I have it set to the snowflake around the 10 o'clock position.

Quick question on this "outdoor fridge".


What technology does it use for cooling? Compressor (like a residential fridge), Gas absorption (like an RV fridge) or thermocouple (self-cooling insulated cooler).


Each of those have their own set of advantages and weaknesses. Knowing what you are dealing with will go along way to understanding how best to use your equipment.

I will have to adjust it, and see where the sweet spot it, but its just like a dorm room fridge without a freezer.

I have same unit and found it wasn't getting cold enough so I dialed it to coldest it does take awhile but does get drinks nice and cold, I'm thinking of upgrading to one that has a freezer with it
