16 " G rated Goodyeartires

Picked up 2017 Pinnacle. Should have looked underneath at spare. My fault! I just figured Jayco would include a16" G rated goodyear tire for the spare. I should have laid down in the gravel and looked. Whay I got was a 16" E 80 psi. Anyone else have the same ?

Just looked at my 2017 North Point 377 yesterday. Same thing, ordered G rated & spare was an E. Our friends 2017 North Point also had the E rated spare.
The dealer called the factory & was told the upgrade only included the tires that touch the road. I am not a happy camper.

Looks like we make the rules up as needed, I haven't heard anything back from Jayco. When and if the spare touches ground, it will be a g614. Specifications say. Upgrade to G614 tires. Language does not say. just those on ground. Sounds like (THOR) is tryingone. to pull a fast

I'm in the same boat. I contacted the dealer after I noticed, dealer told me it should have a G rated spare also but haven't seen it yet. They are supposedly in contact with Jayco to have one sent to me. We shall see....

Same thing here. I purchased the correct spare and the dealer reimbursed me. It was not hard to get rid of the E rated spare.

My G614's were balanced just like any other tire. A couple of them required a bit more weight than lighter duty tires, but they balanced fine.

What would happen to the good tire on the same side when the weight would be shifted to that tire. How much damage would it cause to that tire? Then you would get to buy two tires. The spare will not carry its portion !

Me too.

It's also on a steel rim, just like cars that give you a temp spare. It's only for short term use.

When I upgraded to G614's, I was so tired of tire problems that I spent an extra $350+ for a G614 spare. It may have been a waste of money as in almost 3 years it has never been on the ground.

BTW, I had them all balanced.

No different than any new vehicle you purchase. Order special wheels/tires, spare is always the basic OEM option. Look at the spare under any truck with optional factory wheels or tires. Nothing new or unexpected. (Not saying it's right, just typical).

The spare on my brand new F350 is the exact same as the 4 on the ground, just on a different rim.

Mine also came with an E rated spare so this has been going on for years.

My 06F350 had the same Continental tire as the ones on the ground only with a steel rim.

I don't care much because I never rotate the spare into use unless I have a flat. Just works better for me.

My Ram 3500 dw came with same as ground tire. I would not get excited about putting something less than what I had on ground, if I were towing the 38REFS. Why would THOR think one should consider reducing load carrying capacity even for a few miles. Some of the places we travel might be more than a few miles to get tire replaced. Thor is just trying to save a few bucks.( at my expense.)

17 Pinnacle, same problem, "E" rated spare. Just got off the phone with Jayco warranty division. Went round and round with a young lady named Michelle. She was understanding but non-committal. She placed me on hold twice to discuss issue with the supervisor. He is supposed to be calling me back shortly. I stated that I paid for the tire upgrade and expected to get the spare as a "G" rated tire as well. Michelle continued to state that was not how the build sheet reads. $1395 for tire upgrade, find me the spare tire sentence. Anyway I expressed the load difference and that it was un-acceptable blah, blah blah. I anticipate that, if I receive a call from the Supervisor, I may get the same answer. I will not say anything negative about Jayco as a whole, as they have fixed things in the past. Lesson here I suppose is to read the fine print that is not printed. ????

Found this thread when searching this topic about spare tires. Just bumping it up to see what the outcome was. We also have G-rated tires on our 2017 North Point 375, but the spare is an E. Dealer supposedly ordered the G-rated spare, but when it came it was another E. On the horn with the dealer now, but they're giving me the run-around. Anybody have any luck getting a matching spare?
