2016 29.5 BHDS bathroom vent leaking

I have had this problem twice now. The first time the dealer replaced the bathroom vent. Now the vent is leaking again, I think the water is coming in from the side flaps that open up when you turn the fan on. Has anyone experienced this before? I cant get it back to the dealer right now, we have a few trips planned. Whats the best fix, install a Maxx Air roof vent cover or replace the whole fan/vent assembly with a better quality one?

I just bought a Maxx vent cover and never have a problem even in the rain when the vent is wide open. When i camp it's open usually 24/7 for ventilation.

I replaced the whole unit with a Maxx Air. Much better vent/fan and no leak.

Ditto! Best upgrade you can do for your bathroom too.

x2 We have Maxx vent covers on both our vents and the vents are always wide open - the exceptions being when needing the furnace or air cond. Never saw a drop of rain inside.

I would say it depends on where the leak is coming from. If it's coming from a piece of the vent itself "above the seal", then a Maxxair (or SOB) vent cover will probably solve the problem. That's one of the first things I installed on both my units. VERY useful.

If the leak is in the seal between the vent and the roof, a cover won't stop the leak. Might slow it down a little, but it will still leak.

If it were me, and I had a leak in the seal that I couldn't fix by adding a bit of Dicor, I would replace the entire vent with a Maxxair (or SOB) vent with integrated fan, and seal the whole thing up fresh myself so I know it was done right. Then I'd let the Dicor cure and cover it with Eternabond and be done with it "forever".

Our 16 eagle had the same problem the dealer found out that the UV protection was not applied properly or not at all to the cover he replaced it with an updated one with the UV protection and had no problem your dealer may have replaced it with a vent cover or vent that still didn’t have the UV protection I would go up on the roof and check and see if the vent is starting to crumble from the UV

Ditto, replaced everything with Maxx Air. Which was pretty easy considering I had to have my entire roof replaced last year lol
