2016 Eagle 27.5 RLTS butyl tape on Slide outs.

Anyone have issues with. screws popping up through the Butyl Tape on their slides outs? If so what's the recommend repair?

Thanks!

MM

"If" your referring to the screw heads gradually breaking through the thin cover tape (not a butyl putty tape) along the top of the slide, replace it with some Eternabond Sealer Tape.

I did it on my prior '05' Eagle, and just installed it last week over the 3-week old thin black tape Jayco used on my new 2018 Jay Flight.

Didn't take a pic of my new Jay Flight tape install yet, but here is my '05' Eagle slide Eternabond install:

The Eternabond is thicker and more robust then the OEM tape...., after applying the Eternabond sealer tape run a bead of clear silicon caulk along the edge of the Eternabond tape and the slide flange.

Bob that sounds like the correct way to do it. The dealer just hamered the nail head down then added the tape on top of the existing factory tape and the new tape is coming off at the ends and the rubber gasket that sweeps the debris off the roof is pulling the tape up. It's a mess.

Marko,

I agree, the OEM tape isn't robust enough for the application over time. The upper slide wiper seal will not effect the Eternabond sealer tape and vice versa.

On my prior '05' Eagle I had to use a hair dryer to remove the old OEM tape, cleaned the surface, then applied the Eternabond....., but back in '05' Jayco used a better quality cover tape on the slide roof edge. The Eternabond was still intact 5 years later when I traded the '05' Eagle in last month.

My '05' Eagle project: https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...ct-9264-3.html

I also applied Etranbond to the my roof/front cap joint seam on my prior TT and also on my new Jay Flight......., reference post #8 in the following JOF thread:

https://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f...s-51005-4.html

Jayco's updated "fine print" on owner responsibility in respect to leaks, etc.., prompted me to be pro-active on my new Jay Flight.

Bumper to bumper two year warranty does cover this per my dealer. But I had to remind him that I had a bumper to bumper warranty. Just wished they did a better job.

I agree..., hammering a screw head back into the slide frame and covering with a piece of tape IMO is unacceptable......, may want to contact Jayco directly (with pics) to get the repair done correctly if the dealer is unresponsive.

Called Jayco they said they leave up to the dealership to determine best way to make the repair. They don't want the liability issue so they derect you to the dealer.
