Update on my 2016 28.5 RSTS. My 5er's build date was 7-24-15. My local Jayco Dealer said that Jayco is aware of the problem and had addressed it. I don't know the date that a better version of the exhaust fans were introduced to production. I guess everyone will have to just check your units yourselfs and hope for the best.

bdreinv: Do you know what the approx build date is on your trailer?
My 29.5 FBDS is coming out of storage next Friday. Anxious to start more mods and look at that bathroom vent.

Hey all
I want to thank the guy who parks his eagle next
To mine at storage. He gave me a heads up on this one
Yep the cover will fall to pieces at the touch of a finger
Covered it with tarp and duct tape. Can't get in for service until
December 6. Thank goodness I'm still under warranty

I replaced my junker with a fantastic fan! 2017 27.5 RLTS- It was built in 2016. Not worth hauling it 120 miles and waiting weeks for dealer to replace.

Mine was built in Jan of 2017. So far the cover is fine, but the switch has already shorted out!! cheap, garbage.

Mine broke and I replaced it with a Maxx Air and vent cover. Jayco paid labor and credit $39? for oem. Much happier now.

X2, Didn't wait for the vent to go bad, read about the problems and had it replaced on my own. Now if the vent cover goes bad from the Florida sun all I have to do is replace that, without worrying about leakage into the RV. The Fantastic Fan works so much better than the original equipment fan.

We just got our Jayco in June (4 months ago) and the OEM bathroom fan switch flakes out. It's just a simple red button that you push on/off to vent. Seemed to work pretty consistently at first but then it started crapping out where you have to push the button a few times before it turns on. I'm guessing this is the cheapest switch made? On our last trip, it stopped working.
Should we make the dealer/Jayco replace it under warranty or upgrade to something cool that'll actually last a while?

fan
New 28.5 RSTS on 3/16.
Leaky fan since new. Caught in pans etc. when raining. When bunk light started blinking from leak due to rain, parked it under cover and ordered fantastic fan unit. Will install myself to avoid towing/appointment with local dealer , 45 miles away. I think (from their reviews) they are a bunch of clowns anyway .

update on OEM fan
Replaced with fantastic fan and cover. Sealed with Eternabond tape (good stuff).
No problems since , weathered a few rains.
