2016 vs 2017 29.5 BHDS

I was looking at some pictures of the new 2017 29.5 BHDS and noticed quite a few changes Jayco has make. Some I like and some I don't. Here is what I've seen different from pictures of the 2017 compared to my 2016, there maybe more than what I've found:

· Front storage compartment is now blocked-off at the rear

· Outside lights are different

· Light added next to slam-latch storage compartment on right side of entrance

· Outside Security light deleted

· Outside Speakers are more flush / flatter & mounted lower

· Large bump-out rear window smaller and moved lower

· Rear top lights are now Dot Markers

· Outside Kitchen pull-out appears to be all Metal, including drawer

· Outside sink has different (flexible) faucet & looks to be a porcelain sink

· Outside stove dual burners off-set from each other

· Outside TV option, above refrigerator

· Outside shelves look sturdier and maybe non-adjustable?

· Inside Control Panel different, less switches and had glass door

· Cabinet above couch now has 3 doors. Right side is angled now. Appears to be the same total width as original, but maybe less storage space now.

· Light fixtures are different

· Light switch added to the right-side of dinette (for light over dinette)

· Wanes-coating now on wall under mirror (right side as entering)

· New drawer added on 2nd step going into bunk area

· Wardrobe cabinet in bunk area changed. Shortened mirrored doors, added 2rd drawer

· Bunk area floor heat vent moved to side of bottom bunk

· Window valance above couch changed. Both side & rear window valance now aligned at top

· Master bedroom door now a Swing-in door. No longer a pocket-door

· Bathroom light switch now a single, triple switch unit

· Party Sofa with Hide-a-bed option now offered

I like the outside TV option. Looking at that now, its totally doable to mod this. I bet you can get to the cable connection from the back bunk, because that is just 1/4" luan separating the bunk from the outside kitchen. I like the drawer on the rear step, but someday I will take you up on the offer to add more drawers. I like the lights on the outside too. The wanes coating is a nice touch. I dont like the outside kitchen area. Looks cheap.

Yes, I really like the added drawer in the step as well. I will investigate adding one myself. Not sure how deep is can be, since we have the floor vent. Moving the vent would be easy enough, but then I'd need to replace the carpet as well or just use some kind of cover for the old vent. I'm not sure about the outside kitchen either. I like the wanes coating and may also consider adding it. Just easier to clean-up after the grand kids, since they put their hands on that wall a lot. Plus I like the looks of it better. I don't like the lost of storage space in the front compartment, now that Jayco added the metal back to it. I like having the open / more space to use. I've already been toying with the idea of making / adding a glass door to the control panel. Just a nicer look not seeing all of those switches all of the time. I'm not sure I like to new swing-in bedroom door either. I forgot to add with the new door, Jayco moved the TV mount to the center of the wall at your feet. Better viewing location, but going to be hard to walk past the end of the bed and not hit your head on a TV. We have no plans for a TV in the bedroom anyways. I'd love to see pictures of the 'Party Couch'.
We can have a drawer marathon anytime. I have the tools and garage space to build them.

Have you tried getting the lights over the master bed to be normal lights? I didnt know that if you hold them, they are normal, and if you touch them, they are blue. I always assumed they were blue

Yep, knew this one already. DW reads in bed all-the-time using it.

I like what they did with the outside refrigerator area, the more sturdy shelves and option for TV but like spepi said it is a doable mod. And I agree about the outside kitchen the metal is nice for getting wet if you leave it out but it does look cheap. Other than that I don't think I would trade mine for the new model.
