2017 Eagle HT battery exploded

Good morning all,
We have a 2017 eagle ht 29.5bhds bought new in 2017. The second season with camper the battery exploded. Ripped almost in half and even ripped apart tie down strap. Acid all over compartment. Lucky no one was hurt. Dealer said converter over charged it. OK, it was replaced. Just this weekend felt battery to see if hot and once again its cooking. Disconnected camper from electric before it explodes again. Dealer said the last time Jayco tested converter it was fine. You folks have any ideas. Dealer says a bad luck of batteries. This battery was 11 months old.

Are you maintaining the water level in your batteries?

Do you have solar? My solar controller shorted, and burnt a hole right through the side of the battery box where it was mounted. Killed the battery too as it was sending full unregulated power to the battery after it burned out. Might be from the solar input?

The first place to start is get a digital voltmeter, and see how much voltage is being sent to the battery from the converter. Second is to check the water level on the battery.

13.6 isn’t usual depending what phase the charger is in. Depending on the model and features the charger has it will sometimes send as much as 14v to the battery for a short time near the end of a charge cycle and then drop back down to around 12.8 to “float” charge the battery. You need to check it periodically through the day and see if maybe it’s stuck in a boost mode or something and never dropping the voltage back down.
Don’t take the fact that your dealer said your charger is fine. They are far from experts at most anything to do with campers unfortunately. This forum is full of dealer and technician stories that make you hair stand up.
