Thanks FordandJayco, the more I hear of these situations, gives me the feeling I should be OK, especially if the axles is sitting on the lowest hole increasing the height by 2 to 2 1/2 inches. Lanedawg seems to be the only one I see that has a 2016 F250, and it is working for him. Just like to here how the other 2016 F250 owners are making out. Again thanks, knowing that the 2017 F250 with their higher stance is able to tow with little to no nose height problems, gives me hope.

First, my 16k B&W Patriot hitch is 16" high from the bed to the plate. That is the lowest holes on the hitch.

Second, if your trailer has the Moreryde suspension like mine does you can only change one end of the springs to a lower hole. The hole is 2 1/2" lower, but, that lowers the axle only 1 1/4".

Third, changing from 15" to 16" wheels does not seem like much, but, you get much larger tires with the 16" rims, adding about 2 1/2" to trailer height.

End result is you can get almost level with all the changes. With springs in the upper holes, 15" wheels and 4WD truck I am almost a worst case. The trailer is about 4" nose high.

FYI, when towing our old rig (Dodge 4wd 2500 diesel, 24ft fiver) the trailer was VERY nose high (about 7"). The only issue I had with it was tire wear (I did upgrade the tires to a D rating). No, the refrigerator was fine. It is surprising how out of level they can be and still work ok.

vcbice, thanks for the info. I'm not sure what suspension I have, I'm guessing whatever it came from factory (2014 ht 23.5rbs). Does anyone have one and tell me what them come with. The dealer is 3 and 1/2 hours drive, a little too much of a drive, I guess I can email or call when they open in a week. They came in just to show me the trailer last weekend, but they are still closed.

thehappycamper, here is the factory brochure ... it doesn't mention the suspension system. A call to Jayco could answer that question.

Thanks for the brochure of the 2014 Jayco ht line, triplebvalp. I'm waiting for someone with one to come and chime in with what suspension they have. Otherwise I will wait till the dealer opens in a week. Thanks again.

Update, I had my wife's cousin who happens to live 3 minutes from the jayco dealer ( 3 and 1/2 hrs for me) go to the dealer and take some measurements for me. The overhang of the trailer that sits on the bed is 56 and 1/2" from the ground, both at front and rear, versus the bed rails at 55", only 1 1/2" clearance. the pin plate is 45" from the ground and 11 and 1/2" from pin plate to the bottom of the overhang. So with the hitch at about 17" above the bed and bed being 35" high places the pin at a height of 52" and with the difference of 11 1/2" between the pin plate and the bottom of the camper it means the camper will be 8 and 1/2 above the bed rails right at the front of the overhang. Now keep in mind with the weight of the pin on the truck the whole the bed height will go from 35" above grade to about 33" or slightly less above ground, I figure i would have 8 1/2" clearance above the bed rails at the front where the pin is and probably around 5" at the tailgate. Now does this math actually make sense or is there something I am missing. Thanks.

So I had a chance to get out to where I bought the 2014 eagle ht 23.5 rbs, 3 and a half hour drive, because of a family function. I arranged to stop at the RV dealer and hitch up the 5th wheel RV to my truck and although she did sit a little nose high, I had 8 inches clearance at the front of camper to the bed rail and 7 inches at the rear. Keep in mind that there is no camping gear or passengers etc, so with all that extra load I figure that it will sag an extra inch or inch and a half which means it will sit a little more on the level side, still a bit nose high but not that bad. Oh and I got a B & W patriot slider recently installed along with a 7 pin socket in the bed, topped with a Bakflip MX4.

And I also forgot to mention if you notice the Camper is sitting in a sunken part of the lot which also lowered it a bit, more so on the passenger side because it sagged more on that side.

That doesn't look too bad, but with 7" of clearance over your bed rails I'd have the dealer move the pin box to another hole to get even closer to level. And I say pin box because it doesn't appear that your hitch has any room to go lower.

Force you are right, I have the B&W patriot set to the lowest setting which is 17 inches above the bed. I like having the extra clearance at the front because of the tonneau cover having 3 of the 4 panels on top of each other it is a bit high and the camper is sitting considerably higher so it will not come in contact when turning. I did notice that you have to back up perfectly straight so the tailgate doesn't come in contact with the RV. I am going to have to rig a camera viewing the hitch because the tonneau cover folded does obstruct my view of the hitch while backing up. If I was to travel great distances I would look into raising the suspension on the trailer, but we do all the camping within 2 hour drive, most being only 1 to 1 and 1/2 from the house.

Ah, I didn't notice the tonneau cover back there. I have the roll-up kind (Truxedo) but it too is just enough in the way to block my view of the hitch unless I do some creative stretching from the drivers seat lol

Our F250 came with the CHMSL camera mounted in the upper rear cab light. Looks down in the bed and projects a guide line to help with lining up the hitch with the pin. Really nifty. Makes it pretty easy.

I wish my F250 came with that camera. I'm looking at buying a camera and monitor and mount it just behind the hitch aiming at the hitch opening. I have stretched up to see if I can see the hitch, I either didn't stretch high enough or the cover is too high to make it possible to see the hitch. I'm more concern with backing up straight enough so the tailgate doesn't hit the camper. Summer can not come soon enough, I had enough of this cold weather.

Towing level

I have towed a 2018 Jayco Eagle Ht 28.5 rsts with 16" goodyears, over 10,000 miles this past year with my Ford 2016 F250 super duty 18" tires, 8 ft. box, crew cab, gasser and have had absolutely not problems. Trailer axles on lowest point. Pulling with a Husky Hitch. Love the set up. Very stable and I do not know I am pulling anything it is that comfortable. It is level to my satisfaction to within 1-2 inches high. One can become obsessed with level. If it feels comfortable and within
the range that mine is be content with it.

I, for one are not that concerned about it being perfectly level, as long as it is not too nose high. After loading the trailer and truck I feel it will be level enough. I just hope clearances when turning is good and that the tailgate does not touch the 5th wheel when hitching, it is about 4 to 5 inches if the truck is straight in towards the camper. What gears do you have and how does it pull, especially in slight hills?

To the best of my knowledge, in Ontario double towing is legal. However their is a length limit, not more than 76 feet and is subject to no excessive swaying, which is dictated by the police if their is in fact excessive sway of the second trailer, and the first trailer must be a 5th wheel and the tow vehicle must be a commercial vehicle. In Ontario all pickup trucks are registered has commercial vehicles.

Just did some research, it seems that the first trailer having to be a 5th wheel is not correct. I believe it is often said as such because the 5th wheel as the first trailer would more than likely give you a better chance at not having excessive sway and avoid the police ordering you to not double tow. Just a guess on my part, not sure, some say it has to be a 5th wheel and others say no. Its just every time I see double towing in Ontario it's always a 5th wheel towing a single axle trailer of some type behind it.
