2017 North point rear receiver hitch.

Jayco says the rear hitch is only for cargo racks, bikes, coolers, and alike. However I checked it over and it appeared to be connected and welded adequately strong enough to tow an aluminum trailer with a side by side. (1700lbs.)
I tested the doubles on a 140 mile round trip with no issues. I must say I'm a little nervous going 600 miles and having unforeseen fatigue problems.
So has anyone else towed trailers on the rear hitch?? How did you get along?
I see the new North Points have the trailer wires already installed for towing.

Not sure what they said for the 2017 trailers or how they attached the hitch but for my 2018 28.5 RSTS 5th wheel hitch the manual states 3,000 lbs trailer weight and 300 lbs tongue weight. Does you manual give any weight ratings?

Receiver is for cargo carrying accessories ONLY. DO NOT tow any trailer
or other vehicle. Load Limit for this receiver is 300 lbs Maximum. Use
for towing or exceeding load limit will void the warranty. Failure to follow
the instructions can cause the carrier to collapse or items to fall which could
cause an accident resulting in death or serious injury

I just looked at the manual to make sure I had read it correctly. It says:

[The hitch receiver may be used as a weight carrying hitch to tow a boat or other watercraft
trailer. Do not use a bar longer than 10-inches (254 mm). The maximum length of the draw
bar is from the center of the fastening pin to the center of the ball. The maximum trailer
tow rating of the fifth wheel hitch is 3,000 Lbs. (1361 kg.) with a maximum tongue weight
of 300 Lbs. (136 kg.).]

It might just be that because our trailer is shorter and lighter they allowed towing. It wouldn't surprise me if the frames were different too.

The EAGLE HT has always been approved to tow with that hitch. The other FW's only had cargo receivers up until 2022. Jayco was adamant with a "NO" when we had our 2015 PINNACLE and I wanted to tow a golf cart on a small trailer.
