2019 Northpoint welds cracking

Anyone else having issues with the frame and structure of their north point 5th wheels? I had a piece of square tubing fall off my camper going down Highway and i have a pretty large crack in the front side fiberglass portion of the rv. Also my middle slide has trouble coming in or out.. I feel like the whole frame is flexing and causing the crack and the slide not to work correctly. I’ve contacted jayco and lippert about coming for an inspection. Time will tell how they treat the issue and it’s a 2019 model

Welcome aboard! Hopefully you are still in warranty.

The cracking of the fiberglass has been an ongoing issue. To stop the crack, drill a tiny hole (smallest drill bit you have) at the very end of the crack. Then place a piece of electrical tape over the crack to keep it water out while you find/work on a solution.

As for the welds. This is the first I can recall that someone lost a piece of metal. But it is not totally uncommon to hear of cracked welds, and bent outrigger hangers, which might be your slide out issue.

Try to document everything no matter who you are working with (dealer, Jayco, Lippert, your insurance, etc). If you have a phone call, try to follow up with an email (per our phone conversation......).

Wish I had better feedback.

We have a 2021 335T toy hauler (picked up in May 2020). We documented poor quality welds with the dealer 1 week after we picked it up. More recently we have been communicating with Jayco, Lippert and an authorized service center here in Minnesota. We also have a side wall crack at the bedroom slide. After reviewing photos of the welds the service center stated that they only saw one that would be questionable. The rest typical. The poor welds have pin holes, cold lap and rust. I know that photo evaluation of welds can be hard. I work for a company that designs and manufactures heavy duty cooling systems for mining equipment and told them the weld quality on this frame would never fly in our industry. The earliest they could get us in is July, but because of our camping schedule and the estimated 2 week repair time on the side wall we can't get that done and a visual inspection of the welds until September.

I can upload some photos of our frame welds if you would like. Let me know.

Welcome,

Unfortunately the crack at the bedroom slide is well documented. Mine was at the factory twice to repair it. Hopefully you are the original buyer and within the 2 year warranty.

The weld crack I had too. Found when adding Road Master shocks and the weld shop repaired them.
