2020 321RSTS Delamination

Purchased unit new 1/31/20, took unit in with two large bubbles on rear wall and dealer said it was delamination. The entire rear wall needs to be replaced and Jayco has denied warranty claim. Dealer / Jayco has no explanation except to say NO WARRANTY. We paid over $60,000 for this unit and to say we are dis-satisfied with Jayco is an under statement. Has anyone else out there seen similar issues with a 2-1/2 year old unit. I will never buy a Jayco product again. !

I've seen delamination on my son's 2018 Grand Design Imagine when it was 3 years old. One of the side windows was leaking and he wasn't aware of it. Made a couple of bubbles under the window. Warranty was gone anyway, but I highly doubt the factory would cover it.

Was it inspected several times a year? Sides are the same as the roof. All need to be periodically inspected for poor caulking.
It could be a poor luan to filon application but that's not all that common these days.
Are the bubbles above or below the window?

No water leakage according to report by dealer, so much for Jayco's 16 min @ 144 ton bonding process. It is just poor quality product.

Bubbles are not under window, one is towards the top & the other on right side of rear window.

It would be a fairly easy job to just lay a new filon panel over the old panel. I actually read about a manufacture that did that on the side of a TT or 5er, can't remember which one for sure.
All the penetrations would keep it in place. I would still by some adhesive like Sikaflex that Cedar Creek uses to fasten their walls to the studs. Way way cheaper than a new wall and much less intrusive.

At one time they did. My 2012 Jayco Skyhawk was azdel clad. Great trailer, just a little small for extended trips. Expensive trailer at the time for it's size, but a lot of great features.

Dealer says no water leakage, just a bad lamination job.

You have 3 yrs on the lamination (structural warranty) so I would contact JAYCO directly and ask why they aren't covering it.

I will contact Jayco again and their parent company Thor, but I was told previously that the 3 year structural warranty does not cover delamination. If you or anyone else can find any documentation showing differently it would be greatly appreciated.

It's right in the warranty:

Structure Components means materials and/or workmanship directly attributable to Jayco relating to the laminated fiberglass sidewall assembly, laminated rear wall assembly, laminated fiberglass front wall (wrap) assembly, sidewall/end wall/fron

Can you send me a copy of that document or a link where I can get it. I just got off the phone with Jayco customer service and they said they don't cover delamination unless it was caused by a structural issue like a bad weld / broken stud.

Thanks, Tom

That's in your owner's manual under warranty for 3 year structural.

Does is still get results when you post your problems to the Jayco Facebook page?

My whole back wall was delaminated but mine was under warranty just barely, it was a 2019 321rsts.

Man I hate to hear this. Unfortunately this is something all too common and not just with Jayco's.

This is the 3rd case of delamination with a Jayco I've heard about recently and all 3 claims were initially denied by Jayco. Insurance companies are notorious for denying the first claim too. Gather as much information as possible. Call around and find an independent inspector (National RV Training Center may know of an inspector) to take a look at it, write a report showing no evidence of seal damage or water intrusion and go back at Jayco. Keep going back at them until they realize you're not going away. You have a marathon on your hands.

FYI they would hate for something like this to get to the news level.

Best of luck.
