26.5 ht Slide Question

We just picked up our new 26.5 ht rls and had it out for its first outing. All went well except for the operation of the living room slide operation. When we got ready to leave the slide would only retract part way. After some hard pushing on the slide we got the unit fully retracted and headed back to the dealer.
They seem to have gotten it adjusted so that it extends and retracts smoothly. Although by looking at the gasket contact on the sides of the slide, it seems to be slightly out of square with the opening, but maybe thats the way it is.
But, I do have a couple of questions for other ht owners. When the slide moves outward it tips noticeably outward at the top while extending, and when retracting the bottom moves inward first creating an outward tip of the top of the slide. IS this Normal operation? Second, when the slide reaches the end of its travel there is a rather loud ratcheting or clicking sound that occurs until you release the switch. IS this Normal?
The bedroom slide seems to work smoothly, although there seems to be a loud whirring noise before it actually starts moving, I guess thats the motors sync'ing?

Sure sorry you had problems on a first trip. The BR slide is operating normally. The main slide should tip as you describe. We have learned to anticipate the end of the run and release the button to prevent the ratcheting noise you hear.

You should be able to use your slides without fear that they are not going to work. Don't wait to get it checked if you suspect anything wrong while the warranty is in effect.

26.5 ht Slide Question

The tipping and ratcheting noises are normal. There's also a lot of twisting the slide out room does that's normal. It's hard to believe that these operations are normal as they look painful to watch.

The slides in our HT26.5RKS are exactly like yours and your description of the operation is also the same as ours. During our PDI, I asked the service tech if the ratchet noise was normal and he said that it was. So when we extend and retract the large slide we keep our finger on the button until we hear the ratchet noise (but only let it click once or twice before releasing the button).
One thing the service tech told us about the large slide was that you must always completely extend or completely retract the slide. In other words if for some reason you stop extending the slide part way, don't reverse the operation but rather go ahead and extend it all the way out before bringing it back in.
He also told us that the bedroom slide (different system) must always be extended or retracted completely without interruption. If not, you may need to reset the slide motor (in the front basement compartment).
The one thing you mentioned in your OP about the slide possibly being out of square. Our slides fit perfectly against the gaskets so if yours don't, I would suggest taking it back to the dealer for service while it's still under warranty. You certainly don't want any water infiltration while cruising down the road. You can also call Jayco customer service for their input on this.
Good luck and happy travels
