29.5 HT mods

Thinking about a MORyde replacement pin box, some new MORyde shackles and 16" wheels

Is this excessive?

Also anyone have good ideas on a 5 lug 16" wheel upgrade Jayco won't tell me much at all. I want to raise it up just a tad.

Doesn't sound excessive to me [emoji3]. Sounds like really smart improvements or upgrades that could/should have been offered from the factory.

You could try Tredit for the wheels. Is the wheel upgrade only for lift or do you also want G rated tires?

Morning Tom,

It's both to be honest.

I would do all those improvements. In fact, on my previous rig I did all except the wheels. They were already 16" but I did upgrade the tires. I'm actually going to do the shackle and wet bolt kit on my current rig.

BTW, can you use a different bolt hole on the shackles to get some lift?

Good luck

Yes sir and that's some more of my intent. Should raise it about an inch or two max. That with the wheel and tire improvement will be more than sufficient in my opinion.

We have the MR pin box and I think it's a good choice tho I have nothing to compare it with but it pulls smooth and is pretty quiet.
I did the MR wet bolt upgrade prior to our last trip (2100mi). My shackles and plastic bushings were not worn out (yet) but I have no doubt that it's a good choice.
Verify that you have enough space between your tires for a larger diameter.

Hello there, we just bought a 2017 HT 29.5 and the factory pin with the MR would not work in my shot bed Dodge. So we had to get a side winder set up. Which means I have a brand new, never used pinbox with the Moryde available if your are interested

Cool, they made us eat the upgrade at $550. I would like to sell it at $250.

That's a great deal for the old MR pin box

Well if you look at the new 5th wheels, Jayco does offer a 16" tire and moryde pinbox upgrade. I'd do it if I was you. Does your camper already have the 3000 moryde suspension? If it does then all your needing is the pinbox. As for the tires, go with a good 10 ply, you can't go wrong with that. I've got a 2016 Eagle HT 28.5 RSTS with 10 ply 15" tires. I just wish I had the Moryde pinbox. If I could do it all over again I would of did the upgrade to 16" tires with the Moryde pinbox. Your not really going to gain much going to 16" tires because you'll need rims as well. You have to look at the $ amount for rims and tires?

Finding wheels that are a 16" 5x5.5 is nearly impossible. Jayco swaps the hubs n such to accommodate the 16" wheels. Doing it from the factory is the way to do it. Much cheaper.

I have the CRE3000 and now I have the wet bold kit to install.

I'll be purchasing the pin box from Jim (THANKS JIM) likely next month. The only thing I'll need is spacers for the Axel apparently

I already have some nice Carlisle tires lat year to replace the china disasters that came on it. They have been GREAT tires.

16 on 5? Should be 16 on 6 lug and those are common. Jayco 5th wheels should be 6 lug or 8 lug.

Exactly. The factory 15" wheels are on a 5 bolt pattern if I am not mistaken.

I meant 15" or 16" on 6 lug. Shouldn't be any 5 lug axles on any Jayco 5th wheel. That's scary to even think. Should be 6 lug and you can use 15 or 16 inch wheels. Larger units will have 8 lug. 5 lug is for very light and small trailers.

Roger that. Let me check again. I swear I counted 5 on the eagle HT

I have a solid 6" above and between the wheels. I can go with a 16" easily
