321rsts tire replacement

Next year will be time to replace tires on our 18’ 321rsts. Other than Goodyear endurance tires do you have any other suggestions for non China bomb tires? Is load g over kill??

If you do end up going to Goodyear, I purchased from a dealer called Discount tire. They had the Goodyear promotional schedule and told when the next promo on Trailer tires was. So I delayed the purchase, but they ordered the tires in advance and held them for me so I could purchase and install same day. I think it was $150 extra off for the set of 4.

So did you take or are you going to take your 5th wheel there? I think that I will need some myself if we don't get a Class A motorhome.

@Big1, You can usually take the trailer to Discount Tire. Pick one with a good lot configuration via google maps. I’m taking mine in for tires next week. Too much work to take the tires/wheels off and run them there and back. I’ll be in and out in 25 mins. They did have to order the good years, but they arrived in 3 days.

My discount tire has a small lot in a congested area, I pulled all 4 wheels, loaded them in the truck and had them load them back in. I needed to check all brakes and bearings anyway.

I took my camper in for tire service and surprised the employee when I asked them to balance the tires before finishing up. He said they rarely did that. Should we ask for the tires to be balanced?

I’ve seen rumors of that on a thread here and there. Good luck with your decision. The model you’re considering looks really nice. We’d like a Class A as well. Maybe someday when it’s just the two of us and I can comfortably afford one with a motor in the back. This is the first trailer I’ve owned long enough to replace the tires. Batteries soon too I think.

I'm not sure there is a good answer. I always do as it doesn't add much to the cost. I know how an out of balance tire feels on a vehicle so it makes sense that an out of balance tire on a fifth wheel transmits some shaking to the inside. It may not be enough to matter but I feel better about it.

hmm,,, i just checked my TT tires and not one of them have any balance weights.. A little concerning because i know for a fact that unbalanced tires can un rattle your 'cage'... Luckily the tires don't show any signs of unbalanced tire wear.. I'll definitely be asking for the tire balance when i replaced them, which is coming up very soon.
