I ordered and installed the Roadmaster shocks to my Pinnacle this summer and I'm on my first extended trip with them. The installation is not difficult. The worst part is drilling holes in the frame. So far, I'm liking the improved feel on the road and have noticed less "disarray" in the trailer after arriving at camp. In my view, an improvement well worth the money and sweat.

I assume your installer cut back the coroplast to allow the top of the shocks to clear? Feel any drafts?

You’re right Todd, they were a tight fit! However I haven’t had any rubbing or clearance issues. They have been great. If I had to do it over again, I wouldn’t be a cheapskate and spring for the Joyrider (roadmaster) as I think they are better engineered and probably better performing than the lippert.

Between the shocks and the trailer saver hitch, my rig is smooth as can be [emoji41]

Are you referring to their Independent Rear suspension kit? If so, yeah, I bet that rides nice, but it’s not in my current budget.

Nice. I measured up the gap between frame and leaf springs today and it looks like there is 5.5” of clearance to get a right angle drill head in there. Time for tool shopping!

I have actually broken 3 leaf springs on my Pinnicle (in 3 months) and was not overweight, so I had an additional leaf added to 4 replacements (supplied by Lippert).

I suggest before shocks check your leaf springs and have your spring hangers
Checked. Many of you will find cracks in the welds. Some of us have had the spring hangers actually fail and break off frame. Shock may be great but the Lippert frame and springs are suspect, how many of you had outriggers fail on Lippert frames, Pinnacle, Northpoint and Sesimic? Pictures on my profile

I’m sure they could help, but I can’t see them helping as much as shocks.

Where these would reduce squat over bumps, which in turn should reduce spring loading, which in turn should reduce the amount of potential energy stored in the spring, which in turn should reduce the spring rebound effect, it doesn’t have any rebound control function, just compression. A shock works in both directions.

Roadmaster Comfort Ride Shocks

Just finished our first trip with the Roadmaster Comfort Ride schocks on a 2020 317RLOK. The trailer came with the MORryde CRE3000, and the MORryde RBP rubber pin box. We all noticed the difference. I drove from the Atlana area to Mount Pisgah Campgrounds on the Blue Ridge. I no longer noticed hard porpoising or jerks. Could still fill tugs as rough bridge transitions or rough road was encountered. I think it the best $1200 I spent.

Roadmaster 2460

For those that installed the Roadmaster Comfort Shock kit 2460 on their FW's with the square tube subframe; did you use the supplied self tapping screws to mount the upper plates for the shocks onto the square tube? Are the self tapping screws holding up to the task?

Yes and yes. About 8k miles on the kit, 377, I check them regularly, no issues.

Thanks for confirming Lowmiler. The Roadmaster shocks will be my spring project along with the MorRyde Uo21-003 X Factor brace.

I also installed the Roadmaster. I found the standard kit did not work though and had a plate welded to the frame with the upper hardware. Ride is much better.

I’ve seen you post this before. Not sure what happened with your install, but I can assure user eow that, at least on the 377, the current Roadmaster kit indeed works as a bolt on using the supplied hardware.

The instructions are a little bit confusing, regarding axle-under-spring configuration, but if you read it 10 times it finally makes sense, the lower perch extensions are simply not used when axle is under the spring and then everything lines up.

If you get a chance it would be great to see a pic of how the upper shock brackets were mounted. The issue I had is the upper shock bracket was wider than the 2" wide suspension mount and it would have been unstable to try and bolt that to that support. But I've found that different builds with Jayco sometimes have different configurations.

The bracket was a little wider than the box section, but not so wide that I couldn’t drill and thread in all four bolts with room to spare.

Thanks. I wasn't comfortable with that variation. Its great that it worked for you. Either way, we both have a scenario that works well.

Our 2011 came with the Moryde shock mounts but no shocks . It does have the CRE3000's however. I simply measured and had a local auto parts guy who knows what he is doing match up some Monroes.
Stuff doesn't get moved around near as much. The Roadmasters may be a Lille better but not sure cost difference worth it to me
