50 Amp cord cooler caddy

Cord is to heavy for my age. This what I came up with.
60 quart cooler holds cord, adapters, surge protector and has wheels. Rolls from storage to rear electrical port, plug in rv, unroll other end to site outlet, position cords in cutout slot, close top for weather proofing of remainder of cord and adapters. Extra money could be spent to install 2 5inch cord doors on sides. Cords would need to feed through and might make it harder to roll up for storage. Much easier than my old egg crate.

On my old trailer...I never found it heavy because I would disconnect both ends and drag the cord to the compartment by both ends then feed the cord into the compartment...that way you don't have to carry the whole cord at one time.

I had issues with the powered cord reel on our Pinnacle. Slow, slow, slow and almost impossible in colder weather. I had changed the cord and hook up on our previous fifth wheel which worked well for me so I decided if it worked once it would work twice. I bought a SmartPlug connection kit off Amazon, went to a local electrical supply and bought 30 feet of 6 gauge, 4 wire cold weather cord which is lighter and much more flexible than the standard rv cord. There was enough of the wire coming from the cord reel to the coach to reach the new connector which I installed next to the cord reel. When I get around to it I may pull out the reel and see if there is a way I can use that space for storing the cord. Right now I just throw it in a plastic tub.

I have always been told and have found out that the cords build up quite a bit of heat especially when pulling a heavy load like 2 AC's running at the same time. Have you had any issues or encountered a HOT cooler?

All kidding aside, I have never found that our 50A cord gets hot at all when running 2 A/C's, and everything else on electric, like hot water heater. Now, I'm not for sure how hot it would get if you had 3 A/C's, but with two, it's been fine.

Good question Kahoneys, I figured since the plug for my camper is at the back ladder I won't have much left in cooler, if any since most power poles are usually mid-ship or closer to the front. Headed to campground for 5 days next Sat
and will take my temp. gun. Will do a test and get back with results. I have had the cord get really hot laying in the Texas sun. Too hot to roll up without gloves.

Thought about mounting a Morryd on back receiver hitch but didn't want cord to be in weather all the time, or mounting on a baggage slide out. Work in progress I guess. Always looking for a better mouse trap.

The biggest problem we have with our electric cord reel right now...

A big ol Black Widow spider has built it's web right next to the in/out switch. It is a big-un!

Great idea! I have extra cords and things like that in a tote that I bought from Home Depot, but this one has wheels!

Most parks I've been to have the hookups that close. I rarely have to bring out the big one.

Two ac's, heat pump, frig, micro, fireplace, fan, TV and lights. Cord on ground was always 5 to 10 degrees hotter than what was left in the cooler. About 10 ft in the chest. Alot easier to deal with. Good test, it's a keeper.
