50 amp cord storage

What are some of the ways you store the 50amp power cord. The thing is so heavy and that's the only problem I have when setting up or demobilize

I stretch mine out and coil it into a roll about 18" in diameter. Then I secure it with a couple of ball type bungee cords and swing it into the front side compartment. No getting around the fact that it's a heavy bugger. And it coils better in warm weather.

We have the Mor Ryde easy reel works good.

I just roll it up and put it in the bed of the truck behind the hitch, we will need it at the next stop when we setup.

I keep mine coiled up in a round plastic laundry basket.

I wind mine up in a square milk crate type container. I would guess that a round laundry basket would work just as we'll if not better. I might try that.

I have 2 of the oblong milk cartons, 1 for each of the 2 50 amp cords we carry- If you wish to spend some $; smaller, lighter weight, more flexible cord is available at electrician supply houses- It will roll up into a small circle in the coldest weather we have endured- JMHO- DD

Mine rarely comes out of the storage compartment. I most often use a 30 amp cable that suits us for most of our needs. That Annaconda of a 50 amp cable is just to dang heavy to be fighting. Most of our needs are within the capability of the 30 amp connection.

If we're traveling and it's cold, I put it in the back of the cab. The seat is up and I wrestle it in. When we get somewhere the cord is warm so it will straighten out easily.

We like to camp in warm weather so we store ours like this;

That's what I do.with tailgate locked hard to get to to pull off truck when we are stopped at a cafe etc.

My 2 previous 5'ers were 30 amp. The first was hard wired and just stuffed the cord into its dedicated compartment. The second I just curled the cord and put it in a covered stackable tote box. When we got the Pinnacle with 50 amp this fall, I just looped it on the J hook that came in the basement. I have since purchased a Mor Ryde reel from PPL over the internet. Best price I could find, comparable to factory installed one. Installed in just a few minutes with 4 supplied screws. I like it because one can wipe the cord with a rag while reeling it in. I also purchased a 50 amp to 30 amp pigtail online from a marine place I can't remember the name of. It works great and I use it at home especially to hook my 30 amp extension cord to. Makes for a much lighter hook up when you only need or want a 30 amp hook up.
