5'er upgrade

After 2 years getting our feet wet with an Eagle Super Lite HT, 26.5 rks, we've taken the plunge and upgraded to an Eagle 31.5 RLTS

I liked the fact that we will get away from the air mattress for our 13yr old son, and the hide a bed is out of the main living area.

We really liked the HT, but am looking forward to the upgrades and space in the new unit.

My one must have is a fireplace, which this has.

I do have one question of you all out there. What is the durability of the faux leather? We do have a boston terrier, and we were wondering how careful we have to be around the recliners/hide a bed, with his nails. Are they going to puncture the fabric or does it hold up well?

We haven't taken delivery yet, so I haven't changed my signature. Waiting for the snow to melt to get our HT out to swap them out.

We have two very active Brittanys that are always jumping on the furniture in the 5er. My wife bought a couple of couch covers from a company called Sure Fit. The covers fit a whole lot better than a sheet or a blanket and really protect the furniture.

Congrats on the NEW Jayco. We have the same unit and loving it! In fact, we are taking it on a 2 year journey around the US. We are looking at replacing the two chairs with recliners.

We have camped 6 times in ours and really like the room with the two big slides. Pulls nice with my F250. No person allowed in ours so can't comment on the material quality.

Congrats on the upgrade. We went from a 1993 Eagle 215SD to the HT 26.5 RLS a little over two years ago and loved the additional space the 26.5 RLS afforded. I assume, from what you said, that you had very few problems with the 26.5, but just wanted a little more space and comfort.

You'll love the fireplace. I didn't get it in my new 34.5BHTS, but had it in my 33rlds. During hunting season it would keep the whole camper warm throughout the night, as long as the temp didn't drop below 40. I will miss that feature. Really saves on propane.

Congrats on the new 5er. Fun times ahead. We have the same couch and recliner material as you mentioned in our Eagle. We have 2 small to medium size dogs and use a pet furniture cover on ours but it does slide around a bit which can be a pain. We do need to use the sleeper at night for our DD so the cover is easy to take off the sofa. I am going to look at the sure fit and see how easy it will be to remove nightly.

jal2010 - we really liked our HT. The big issue was our son was not a fan of the air bed, and last summer he slept on the couch. Now he's too tall for that. When and if the air bed was out, it was smack dab in the living area.
He liked the fold out bed in the new unit. My wife loved the kitchen space and I loved the more room in the bedroom, the fireplace and the recliners.
You know one more thing I like? We had a G2 travel trailer and the HT, and both had the electric awning, but both awnings had zero pitch. The autodumping feature worked fine, but I was always nervous when steadier rain set in. Now, there's some pitch to the awning, so aside from a heavy downpour, the water should run off.
I also am excited about the thermal pane windows.
