5th Airborne Pin Box vs. Mor/Ryde Factory Pin Box

All,
I just sold a trailer that I had upgraded the Lippert factory pin box to a Reese 5th Airborne. I loved it, smooth ride, no chucking, etc. I just ordered a new North Point 351RSTS with the factory MorRyde Pin Box.

Q: Does this pin box live up to the hype?

Q: Has anyone swapped it out for a Reese 5th Airborne Pin Box and if so, did you see a noticeable difference in ride?

Q: Final question: Can you confirm that the 5AB-E1621-610 is the correct part number for the Lippert Frame used on a Jayco North Point 351RSTS?

Appreciate any assistance / knowledge that you may have on this.

I like my Mor Ryde vs none. The 5th airbornes are nice, but I understood them to be up and down vs lateral which the Mor Ryde does a good job of. Softer starts and stops and dampens the chucking.

Since you already have it ordered I would give it a season and see for yourself. You will need to confirm the pin used on your frame with Jayco engineering.

Welcome and congrats.

Yeah, I have been on the phone with them all morning. Cannot seem to find the right person, waiting on a lady from the purchasing department to return my voicemail. Good advise about waiting a season...

WOW!

Did you see my post about this yesterday? http://www.jaycoowners.com/forums/f6...tch-34132.html

I'm in the middle of a email to my dealer with cc to Jayco and mor ryde.

I'm in the EXACT predicament as you..I gave up my beloved 5th Airbourne and have this MorRyde on my "chucking bronco" NorthPoint.
I'm kicking myself for not swapping befor the trade.
More info in my thread.

I will continue to tell everybody that this hitch sinks until MorRyde tells me what's wrong with it. So far they have ignored me for 2 weeks after acknowledging my concern.

If you get a call back from them, I wouldnt be surprised if they think you are me.

magnumsoldier,

When we traded our Montana last fall for the Pinnacle, we had a TrailAir tri-glide pin box on it. The Pinnacle of course, has the MorRyde. I also wanted to swap pin boxes but, could not get any straight answers as to whether or not the TrailAir would fit on the Pinnacle. So, we will be making a 1900 mile round trip in a few weeks and, I have decided to give the MorRyde a chance. If, it doesn't do the job, heck or high water, a TrailAir will go on!

Dalengail I decided after reading the issues with Klassic that I dont want to wait. I researched with Lippert and Becky at Jayco all morning ro figure out I will have the Lippert 1621HD jig. I then got on the phone with reese yesterday and confirmed the correct part number for the Reese 5th Airborne.5AB-1621-610 ( I think from memory). I pulled the trigger on the pin box yesterday from a vendor named carid.com, cheapest on the net and gave me a repeat military discount. Anyone want to buy a brand new MORryde 18K pin box?

I'm sure you shouldn't have a problem selling the MR
It's certainly better then having a standard pin.
I read a lot of complaints about people saying they kept loosing air in their air bag.
I would maybe put air in once a season. It was pretty much trouble free.
Did you ever have an air problem?

I hope you don't with the new one.

Good deal!! The 1621 is the standard pin box from Lippert. If that bolt pattern on the 1621 sleeve on the frame match then, it is the industry standard. Especially if the whole frame was built by Lippert. So, that tells me that, Lippert's TrailAir pin box will fit on that sleeve!

Okay, so here is the deal:
The MOR/Ryde part number is RPB72-1621HD.
The upper deck frame part number from Lippert is 373037 and comes with upper deck 1621HD Jig from factory. Jayco bolts on P/N: 297056 MOR/Ryde 18K pin box. Not clear if this part number is also MOR/Ryde or if it is a Jayco P/N.

The width of pin box is 12".

There are 5 bolts on each side, they are 5/8" in diameter.

Reese Part Number for "Long" is: 5AB-E1621-610 and is called a universal.

klassic, mine had a couple minor problems. The airbag leaked at about a year or so. The dealer contacted Reese, Reese warrantied it without any problems to include the labor at about 1.5 years into a 3 year warranty. I was very pleased with that! Also, I had a schrader valve seep, they replaced that as well. Yes, just like any other rubber product such as inner-tubes or tires, they do "leak down" pressure. I would spend a split second with my air compressor about two times per year and "squirt" a quick shot to the bag. This was hardly an inconvenience for a soft ride on the rig. Put it this way, I liked the Reese 5th Airborne so much, I just ordered another one.... Also Reese does not expose the airbag to the sun and elements like Trail Aire does.

Could you cancel the Mor Ryde option or is it too late?

It's a standard on NorthPoint and Pinnacle.
It would be nice if they added the option of a air pin though
