5th wheel backup camera options?

I have an older Furrion backup camera, just three years old. Can no longer see out of it, too fuzzy. The new ones, Furrion, are pricey, starting at over $400. Are there cheaper options that will fit in the Furrion sharkfin slot and plug in to the prewired spot?

I see you have not received any replies?? Or am I missing something? i had a cheapo Chinese unit that was very inconsistent in operation and I was not impressed. Am shopping for another unit but will not pay what Furrion is asking for their units and from what I read, they seem no better than units costing under $200. What did you finally end up with and are you happy with it? I have a 38' Jayco North Point so the signal distance is a little long.

LOL, I actually ended up getting the Furrion backup camera that replaced my other Furrion that was less than two years old at the time. The new one has audio so you can hear your spotter. I didn't want to pay what they wanted but didn't have much of a choice. Haloview is supposed to be a good one but wanted a cleaner look so had to go with the Furrion. Just bit the bullet.

Is the new camera any clearer than your old one? I am thinking of replacing my older furion but hate spending $500.

It is. Actually that's why I had to replace the old one. The lens got blurry. I tried to polish the lens on the old one, that didn't work. I know, I hated spending that kind of money. But the alternative, backing into someone else's RV or a concrete pole or boulder is worse than the $500 I spent. So I opted to spend, lol.

if your thinking about getting a new truck any time soon, the Furrion cameras do not work on the new trucks unless you rewire it direct to the battery or get the $85 additional plug. Search this site for more info on them not working.

We have a 2021 Pinnacle and a 2021 Ram 3500. Not sure what camera brand we have, but it works seamlessly in our setup.

How’s your monitor at night. I like to keep the cab dark at night and even in the lowest setting, mine is really bright.

We bought the basic furrion. Poor image quality, no forward camera, no recording. We feel that if we shopped around, we could get more camera for less money.

Also have Haloview, works like a champ. Needed to buy an adapter plate to the Furrion mount, but that was it.

Haloview is awesome, I bought three cameras, two side and the rear for less than one Furion. I had the Furion and it worked great until the camera fogged up, there is no way to clear it. The Haloview RD7 uses a repeater which you can mount up front on the trailer, I never lose the signal for any camera. The monitor allows you to view all three or one at a time and is larger than the Furion. YMMV

I have installed a Haloview RD 7 backup camera recently, very easy to install, the image quality is great, and it's an affordable choice.

I'm a fan of Furrion. Have had it for a while now and have had no problems. I like that the camera acts as a rear view mirror while driving.

I had the same issue with my Furrion backup camera.

I purchased a wireless Fookoo backup camera with a 12in monitor and side cameras from Amazon. Love it!

They provide an adaptor bracket for free that uses the Furrion screw holes so no drilling.

HaloView RD10

On my want list .... already have Dashcam + TPMS + Garmin RV 1090 GPS taking of space in the cab - so - I think this is (an) answer.

Backup camera 720 dpi in the rear (monitor covers and replaces the rear view mirror) and if you need it (I don't) also has a front facing dash cam (1080 dpi).

UNFORTUNATLEY they are out of stock - and as far as I know you can only buy online at the Haloview.com site and they are not anserering regarding when they will be avaliable agin.
