5th wheel height

I checked the height of my new 2018 Eagle 355MBQS recently, and found that with my 2nd A/C I was well over the federal restriction of 13' 6".

The brochure advertises it at 13' 5", but the actual height was 13' 9 1/2".

Anyone else measure their 5th wheel?

My advertised height is 13’ 4”. When hitched to the TV I measured 13’ 5” at the front AC.

I believe the specified height is measured when the trailer is LEVEL. If you are towing nose-high then your actual height will be taller than specified. That is why it is important to measure your actual height.

The difference in my camper towing and off the truck was 1/4". All measurements were taken by a certified mechanic.

Regardless, Jayco is replacing the AC on onsite while I'm on vacation. Their engineers said this camper should have a low profile on it.

I have a 2019 321RSTS Eagle and my height is 13'7". Does anyone know for sure if they are supposed to have the low profile air conditioner installed from the factory?

I paid extra for the factory to install a low profile unit for the bedroom. I didn't like how high the standard unit was. This wasn't an option. The dealer had to contact the factory. Fortunately for me they were willing to even though it wasn't an option on the Eagle line. 2017 Eagle 293RKDS.

UPDATE!!!

I contacted Jayco and they were awesome. After measuring both hooked up and level on the ground, the difference was only 1/4". On the TV I was 13' 9.25", and on the ground I was 13' 9". They discussed with their engineering department and determined that my 355MBQS did require a low profile A/C and they had an on-site repair service come to my campsite in Myrtle Beach while I was on vacation and switch the A/Cs with zero cost to me.

BTW, my dealer was absolutely useless during the entire process.

Jayco lists the Exterior Height with AC a s 154" or 12'10" on their website under specifications for your Jayco. Hard to believe that your trailer is different from the specs.

Measurements
Exterior Travel Length (Pin box to bumper) - 41' 4"
Total Exterior Length - 42' 4"
Exterior Width - 96"
Exterior Height with A/C - 154"
Interior Height - 103 1/4"
Interior Height (Bedroom) - 77 3/4"
Wheel Base - 317 5/8"

That's without bedroom ac. Bedroom ac is listed separate and missing from that spec list. And factory specs are notorious for being incorrect.

The 2018 brochure lists his unit at 161" with bedroom ac. 13.42 height. Then you figure their specs are off. Some 2018 eagle models are listed at 162" with bedroom air.

The storage roof where my RV was at was 13'6". I went up the ladder and looked and I was 2" below the roof with my front low profile A/C while it was still hooked to the truck.

Hi,
Can you tell me the contact person or number you called at Jayco? I was measuring 13’8” hooked to my truck. I had camping world, who we bought the unit from, remove the front AC and install a max air power vent to get me back down to legal height requirements. They never mentioned anything about contacting Jayco, so we had to pay for the piece of mind of being within the legal height.
Thanks for any help you could offer

The AC you had removed, was it standard or low profile? If standard you could of had it swapped to a low profile. Sometimes the dealer will work out a deal to swap to a low profile unit.
