A/C Insulation question

Eagle HT 30.5 MBOK: The 2nd AC- the one in our bedroom- has thick pieces of insulation in it that seems out of place. When I remove the filters for cleaning, the open space above has these thick piece of insulation jammed in each side, but they aren’t pushed against anything. They just runs across the middle of the open space Like a divider.

I can’t figure out if they are this way on purpose or if it’s sloppy work. I want to make sure they are not blocking the airflow. They are wedged in tight, which implies that it’s purposeful, but I don’t know why they would be this way. I’ve looked at a bunch of YouTube videos on installing Coleman Mach ACs, but haven’t found an answer.

Any thoughts?

It's the devider between hot air intake and the cold exhaust. Supposed to be there. Most installers use good aluminum tape and tape it in place. It should line up in a groove on the top side of the plastic trim piece. Some folks have found it crooked and their A/C does not cool very well
