AC &Heat pump not working

We have a northpoint 377rlbh. The gas heat works fine, but we could never get the hear pump to work consistently this winter, and now the AC isn't working. It sounds like it's turning on (the compressor) but no airflow comes out. We replaced the thermostat with an identical OEM one,, and have the same issues. Thoughts?

Could be a bad control box in the a/c unit itself. Could also be a loose wire at the control box.

Also the heat-pump only comes on down to about 40 degrees so if it didn't come on at temps lower than that it was working correctly.

It was above 40, and the sounds then were the same as now. Something would turn on, and then an addition mechanism would start, but shortly shot off, and then try again a few moments later. This would continue to happen until we turned it off. Is the control box a DIY kind of fix?

Yes you can replace that yourself, but I wouldn't just throw parts at it. If you are out of warranty I would have a mobile tech look at it. The travel charge would be well worth it in my opinion.
