Accessing furnace sail switch
Hi all I have a 2020 Jayco Eagle 347 BHOK. I'm trying to get to the sail switch to see if that is my issue with the furnace only blowing cold air; but with no outside access pannel it seems the only access is through my understorage I saw another post with the same issue but my question is do I need to pull all the ducting off to remove the unit or is there a simpler way to get to the switch?

Does fan stay on or does it turn on for say 30 seconds and shut off?

It turns on, runs for 30 sec or so and you can feel cold air from the vents but then it turns back off. I never heard the furnace itself light or even try to

Sounds like the sail switch. Ours did the same thing and new sail switch took care of it.

We have a Class C MH and there is a hinged panel on the out side of the MH where the heater exhaust pipe is. Open the panel and switch is right there with igniter, electronics etc.

Unfortunately in order to have 'adequate' R&R access to the sail switch, high temp sensor, circuit board, etc., your furnace will have to be turned approximately 45 - 90 degrees toward the open basement area (or removed from)......., which in most cases require disconnecting the ducting, LP connection, wire connections, etc..
In some cases if the furnace can be backed away from the outer wall far enough one 'might' be able to view/reach and R&R the sail switch.
NOTE: Remove the outside furnace chrome exhaust assembly "prior" to removing the furnace away from the outer wall.
"A simpler way to get to the switch?" Well, not at the top of my list.........

I would not cut through the aluminum structure in the walls...if you can find and open section then ok. Maybe use a stud finder to map out the inner aluminum or wood framing to avoid it?

My question is how can designers and engineers actually do something like this. All I can say is that they must loathe the RV community, making it as hard as possible to repair something. And for what? The small cost of utilizing a furnace with an exterior access door. Really pathetic

Rv/car/truck designers and engineers design their products for efficient assembly. The DiY does not enter the process. It is frustrating.

My TT furnace is located under my jackknife sofa which provides ample access getting to the furnace (after removing the wood box cover & sofa), but the critical components (sail switch, high temp sensor, circuit board, etc.) were sandwiched against the outer wall like the OP's without an outside access panel.
My TT furnace R&R was a "lot" easier than what the OP's will be..., but it still added considerable time to what would have been a 3 minute sail switch R&R with an outside access panel.
All RV furnaces should have an outside access panel, especially the FW's.

Have you looked up your model number yet to determine the sale switch location?
The ducts do not look like they're easy to remove, but they are not bad. There is a sheet metal collar, you rotate to correct spot and they will come out.
Once you get them pulled back you might be able to reach in and access the sale switch.
As I recall my sale switch is attached to a sheet metal cover and is held in by one screw. I followed the wires to help locate it.

On my 28BHBE I made my furnace "removable" by cutting the wiring and adding wago connectors, modifying my gas line connection to make it easier to disconnect and changing the location of the screws that held it in place. We have 3 German Shepherds (aka German Shedders) and servicing / vacuuming my furnace was an annual part of my maintenance.
I haven't done it yet to our current camper but at the first removal I will make it as easy as possible to take out...

Atwood (Dometic) Sail Switch location.......
I have a Atwood (Dometic) furnace Model #AFMD20121, which is a 20,000 BTU furnace on my 2018 Jay Flight. I'm sure the OP's Eagle's furnace will have a higher rated BTU, but if it's an Atwood (Dometic) model furnace the sail switch location should be similar to my lower BTU model.
The three (3) blue wires connect at the two terminals on the sail switch..., and two screws remove the sail switch assembly from the blower housing. This is the open end of the furnace housing mounted up-against the RV outer wall.

I just found out the cost of replacing a turn signal bulb on my Ford SUV is $350. The entire front of the car must be removed to access the bulb. This is the same car which took over an hour to access the battery to check the water level. Insane.

you might one to verify that on youtube and see if there are videos of any easier way. It helped me with a fog light bulb on my wife's car.

The battery on my Touareg is located under the driver’s seat and what a nightmare that is when it needs service or replacement
