I'm not sure that I would call my insurance first, even though its there fault your insurance will hold it against you if they want to .. basically because they know about it. and you really have nothing to loose in calling them to see what their thoughts are on the matter. I did this once on a car accident and I received great service with the other person ins company mainly because at any time I could bring in mine to deal with it and screw them in the process. they pretty much did what I asked for and I got some serious $$ and the car out of the deal... I really don't see how my ins company would have or could have treated me better.

So back to your trailer.
You haven't shared any photos yet but we all would enjoy seeing some. but the damage sounds pretty major. What I would fear is they totally it out and you loosing out on some serious value being 10 months old.
Or if they do fix it you lose out on some great camping time.. AKA that is why you got it to start with.

I think I would tell the owner of the storage place that you would like X trailer from Y dealer to replace the one they just purchased from you and see where it goes from there.

If they are stand up people and have the ability - insurance you might get what ever you want within reason... or you will see the true colors of oh so sorry, and your going to have to deal with your insurance company, paying your deductible ETC and end up in court if your looking to cover your time, and value loss.

One thing to keep in mind their ins policy, if they have one maybe more of an umbrella policy with a lot higher limits then yours. Think coverage for 50+ rvs vs 1.

In the end its just a trailer, no human damage. Keep us informed as we are all interested.

I agree that you should involve the insurance company.

If the settlement you get involves repair of your rig, my vote is with those who believe the repair should be done by Jayco at the plant. Hope all works out for you.

Update to damaged Seismic 3210, here we go they have agreed to replace my fifth wheel with a new one, so I went on a search for one. well no 2014 anywhere in the area with a partial paint, so everyone agreed to order a new one. well Jayco has discontinued building all Seismics until the end of June, then they will no longer be building the 3210 it will be replaced with other new models. oh well, so now what, just so happens Jayco had a 2015 3210 laying in there yard that was built before they stopped production. but it does not have the partial paint job but we bought it anyway, and they will have it painted the same paint scheme in Grand Rapids, MI at Gerber Collision. they seem to be an excellent place to have it done at, as they do insurance work for RVs and Trucks. I will post pictures as they get it ready to paint, indeed no small job. Just a small note great to know their our people with such great integrity that will stand up fix things when they make a mistake.

Shoefly: Congratulations and it's great you reached a satisfactory resolution. Kudos to the storage facility for doing the right thing.

That goes double for me! And it sounds like you won't lose too much of the camping season.

Meanwhile, let's hope the insurance company doesn't patch up the damaged one and try and pass it off to some unsuspecting RVer.
