Adding second A/C unit

We have a 2019 Eagle 321RSTS that I was told was "prep'ed" for a second unit in the bedroom. Has anyone done this? Any advice
Thanks, Dan

It has been a few years since I recall anyone posting they have done it. But it is doable. I recommend contacting Jayco, and asking for roof and 120V schematics.

Also if you have the 50 amp service entrance, than it should be prep'd for for a second AC.

Pull the trim on the vent and you will see the wiring if you have the prep.

Thanks good idea, It is a 50A and I expect to find AC wiring up there but was wondering if it tied into the main T'stat.

Thanks, Dan

The thermostat wiring should be there too, but the other end will be in the wall usually near a light switch or slide out switch. You'll probably need to fish for it.

If it is pre-wired you might find a circuit breaker marked 2nd A/C. Mine has one for a 3rd A/C unit.

Thanks to all your replies. I have the extra 20A breaker and wiring seems to be there. Have not found the T'stat wire but I'm sure I can fish that out.
Thanks again, Dan

Is there a "T stat" wire up in the vent? If not it is designed for an a/c with the controls on the unit itself.

Today I pulled the vent cover off and there is both the AC power romax and the T'stat wire. Interesting I was surprised to see the duct openings that join in the rest of the A/C duct work. I'm guessing the second unit must be a slave. I'll have to trace the T'stat wire and see if it goes to the existing T'stat. I'd like to completely understand before I order a new unit. I'll probably install in the summer when we get back home to Vermont, if it ever warms up there. I'll post my progress in case someone else has one of these.

Definitely does not go to the existing stat, it's in the wall since they normally run independently. I'd contact JAYCO and ask for the wiring schematic.

I basically have the same unit as yours, and my T-stat is centered under the light switch 55" off the floor to the center.

2nd A/C

ours is 2019 25.5 REOK and I am ready to do the bedroom a/c upgrade as well. It has 2nd a/c prep and I have verified breaker/wiring/tstat wires are there. Just curious, what a/c unit does anyone recommend, I really need a lower profile due to clearance where I store the trailer so I have looked at Coleman Mach 8 and RecPro low profile, any info is appreciated, thanks

Just did this last summer, Jayco made it very easy plug and play. The hardest part is getting the second unit on the roof. (Make sure to protect your roof to avoid damage) Remove your bedroom light switch, the T-stat wire should be located to the right of the light switch hole.

I have a 2021 28.5 RSTS that is prepped for the 2nd A/C. I now wish that I'd had it done at the dealership for $800, but we got rid of a 2004 Laredo for this and I thought that a newer unit with a 17 year newer A/C would suffice. Not so much. I am going to try the plenum mod before I buy the 2nd A/C. I got into the bedroom vent and the wiring and duct is there, so that seems easy enough. My question is, my 5er has the Jaycommand by BMPro so how does that connect? The bedroom already has the thermistor on the wall, so does anybody know how to connect to the NODE, and do I still need to fish wires out of the wall? TYIA
