Adding Shocks to a 2021 28.5RSTS
I remember when I ordered this trailer the literature said trailer will be shock prepped. I just looked underneath it and it looks like it has plates above the springpack but I do not see an attachment point on the frame. Am I missing something? Has anyone added shocks to one of these trailers?

Mine is the same, I contacted the dealer. Jayco will send the frame mounts and specs showing where to mount them I'm sill trying to decide between shocks or Sumo Springs.

Frame mounts weld on or bolt on? Kinda misleading saying they are prepped

I think they will be welded. "Misleading" is an understatement. Just tell the truth and say the bottom mount is provided. Frame mount available on request.

Not the same trailer but my 2020 Jayco HT 272RBOK travel trailer came with the shock prep and I added Monroe shocks very easily. Upper and lower mounts were already installed from the factory, see photo.

Hi,
Did you have 11" of space between the mounting plates? If so can you post the part number of the Monroe shocks you used?
Much appriciated!

I don’t recall what the spacing was but I can measure this weekend and reply. From what I found Monroe makes two shocks for the Dexter axles, 555001 and 555025, I went with the 555001. Below are a few photos of what I found when researching and deciding between the two. Hope this helps.

Thanks! Those are the two I'm looking at also, the 025 looks like it would be a really tight fit in the 11" space. Saw another post saying it was a "bear" of a job to get them in there.
Did you find a big difference in the ride once installed?

Just measured and my trailer is 10 5/8” between the top and bottom mounts, inside dimension. If you don’t take the wheels off to install there’s not much room between the top of the tire and the fender skirt making the top mount a little difficult to access. The bottom mount is easy with or without the wheel on.
I can’t say if adding shocks made a difference in the ride or not. Pulled it home from the dealer and had some time before first trip so added them. I figured since 95% of vehicles on the road have shocks and the trailer was prepped for them a $120 investment can’t hurt.

I added the Roadmaster comfort shocks to my trailer. Huge improvement! My ceiling fan chain pull doesn't wrap up in the fan anymore. My rear kitchen pantry isn't a mess anymore.

Been considering either shocks or SumoSprings for our fifth wheel (30.5CKTS) also. However, our rig is not prepped for that, so that’s another expense. I’m not sure why RV manufacturers do not have at least a basic list of additional options available to buyers from factory—or even dealer installed. Many of us would pay more for items such as shocks, slide toppers, etc. I know they try to keep the build process as generic as possible to keep the line moving.

I picked up four Monroe 555025 and it took less than an hour to put them on. No special tools and nothing else to buy.

I had ordered the 555025 to long for factory installed shock plates unless you raise your spring travel.

555025 has compressed length: 8.625"
555001 has compressed length: 7.875"
You can jack up one side, measure the distance and order the one that fits best. Get them at Amazon and with easy return to Kohl's if it doesn't fit. I suspect Monroe makes the ones that Lippert sells.
I the 555025 fit snugly for me. It's exactly the same as Lippert # LC283280. See this: https://www.etrailer.com/question-519992.html
Wow, just saw them on NewEgg for half the price!
Shocks alone are not the best suspension you could buy, but they ARE better than nothing, easy to install and best of all... low cost solution. I see many posts describing independent suspension, that could be ideal for larger, heavier 5ers but mine has GVWR of only 10,500 lbs.

If you want to drive up to Gilmer I have the upper mounts & maybe the self-tapping screws if you don't weld. I'll have to dbl check the box . I can't remember why I have a set of uppers as ours has all the mounts from factory
I used the 25 but moved spring one hole
