Can someone recommend a good portable air compressor to carry with us on trips?

I have a Porter-cable pancake compressor. Not the smallest compressor in the world but it works great for tires...especially LT's. I bought a small portable compressor that was supposedly good for tires. Well, that didn't work out too well for me. I couldn't get more than 40lbs. in my Michelins. So now I have this bigger than needed compressor but I don't have to worry about it not doing the job.

Lots of options, some of which depends on the required air pressure to top off your tires. I use a Slime brand portable 12v compressor. I have the largest that will plug into a cigarette lighter. They make ones that have to be connected right to the battery. I like mine.

I carry a VIAIR 400P-RV with me. It runs off of one of the batteries in my RAM 2500. It has pleanty of power and comes with two air hoses and built in gage. It easily inflates truck tires and the MAXXIS tires on my 5er to 80psi. Very well made.

I use the Porter-Cable pancake for use at home; it does a good job.

For on the road issues, I use a Viair 88P Portable Air Compressor. Battery powered, fairly light and handles my truck and trailer tires at 80 PSI without struggling too much.

If you have a constant 110 supply (inverter) in your rig then I would go with a Harbor Freight pancake less than 1/2 the cost of the others and has been working well for me for the last year+

I have used this Kensun Compressor a couple of times on the road and it works well. It is small so it is easy to store, but it takes 5 minutes to add 10 lbs. to a low tire, i.e. 70 up to 80 lbs.. It is still better than driving around looking for an 80 lb. air supply in an unfamiliar town. Be sure to read the manual as it is factory set to 40 lbs from the factory (where it shuts off), so you may need to adjust the pressure shutoff higher for your tires.
I also needed the below NOCO power cable and direct attachment to the battery to reach all four tires on my 32’ Class C rig. That is another good thing to check before needing it. The compressor draws 15amps so I like to connect it directly to a battery and not an accessory port which may not be able to handle the 15amp load.

If you have the room, and weight capacity, the twin tank 4 gallon from harbor freight is on sale right now. Mine is going on 5 years. Not too noisy (like an oil less), and makes quick work of LT tire inflation.
