Air Conditioner Freon Smell?

Turned on my air conditioner today and noticed a sort of weird "fishy" smell right away that I finally decided must be the freon/refrigerant in the air conditioner (that's what it smells like). Is this normal? It only lasted for a minute or two. I did use the air conditioner last year and never noticed any smell at all. Just finished looking at an online RV air conditioner maintenance video (the Airxcel maintenance manual is not helpful in that respect). I also Googled and there were lots of discussions about smells (dead animals, vents etc) but I'm not finding what to do if I suspect a freon leak (if that's what it is). It seems to be running and cooling just fine right now so....????

Re; Air Conditioner Freon Smell?

Since the unit is cooling, I would suspect some sort of debris.
Refrigerant is odorless, but the oil in the system with it does have a smell.
If there is enough of a leak to smell the oil the unit probably wouldn't cool.

Could be mildew in the drain pan or on the coil.

Sounds like drain pan is not draining and condensation is staying inside evaporator housing.

Thanks guys, I'll get up there tomorrow and see if I can figure it out. Got busy today and forgot to check to see if there was any water dripping off the roof gutter like it usually does when I have the air on.

It should still be under warranty so might be worthwhile having the dealer look at it...
