Air Flow Issues

I just purchased a 2010 Jayco fifth wheel 365 bhs this fall. I traded up from a 2004 Jayco 29 FBS travel trailer and loved the camper for 7 summers.I love the camper for my family. The only problem I have encounter was air flow to the bunk house. I live in Texas and it is very hot! Jayco said there was nothing wrong with the air conditioner. Any suggestions? I blocked off the duct pass the vent in the back and added a addition vent in the bunk house. I also made a box and installed it in the main air conditioner to push all of the air to the back vents. I have two units and the front unit is ducted to the front bedroom and bathroom. I will try out the air and see what happens.

Same issue on our 2011 BHS. In fact my froze up the first weekend out on the main unit in kitchen area. I called a local to come out and take a look. He vented the return air off so that it would not suck in cold air from the front unit. It would basically take the air from front unit blowing to rest of unit and freeze right up. We also tinted all the windows with a 5% film and last we closed off the bunkhouse fan vent opening with an aftermarket block of plastic. That plastic dome was allowing a ton of heat to build. We now have to bundle up in the summer with A/C running. Hope this helps.

A/C freezing up could also be a sign of low refrigerant. Just Sayin'!

With 2 A/C units you should have no problem cooling your 5'er. Do you have quick cool louvers? If so are they closed. If not you are taking something like 90% of your airflow out of your ducts and dumping it right out of the bottom of a/c unit. Also, on my 5'er anyway, I was told BOTH a/c units are in a common duct. Meaning if 1 a/c unit is on air goes to ALL vents. Good luck!

I have two a/c's as well and they are both on a common duct. I had no problems with adequate cooling this past August in Alabama. It doesn't get as hot as other parts of the country, but we had mid 90's and high humidity. No problems at all.

I have the same problem on my 35RLTS. I had a 31RLS, it was like a meat locker with both units on. I have added slide toppers, window awnings and neither really helped. If i put a fan in the hallway, it helps cool the living room down, that is all we have found that works. I am thinking about trying dual pane windows to see if that helps. If we are in the shade it stays cool, but in the sun is hard to keep it cool.

I have dual pane windows Tweety. Maybe this is finally proof that they do help. I sure think they do, but then I didn't have anything to compare to.

laast august it was 102 -104 and I camped out
My 2010 35rlts Designer with 2 a/cs and dual pane windows would only keep it to 87 deg. inside during the heat off the day (Not a happy camper)

My main problem was no air flow to the back bedroom. Jayco only installed one vent in the back, the backroom is a large room. The room is divided by a door from the kitchen and the return air is not moving back to the main unit. I think I did the same repair on my unit as the service man from Jayco. All of the air from the main unit blows just to the back vents and not the whole camper.

I assure you I WILL BE an UNHAPPY CAMPER if my two (28,500 BTU total) a/c units do not keep my 5'er cool!
