Andersen Hitch with new 2021 3500 Ram Truck
Hello,
Wondering if anyone has had the experiance of taking an Andersen Hitch from your old tow vehicle and putting it on a new truck that has the 5th Wheel towing prep (the holes that are pre-drilled into the bed)
We were towing our Jayco Eagle 317RLOK with a 2016 Ram Mega Cab and found out that we were way over our payload capacity and therefore bought a Ram 3500 long bed that has the tow prep. We would like to use our current Andersen Hitch but wondering if we can still do that and how we go about it.
Thank You.

If it’s the standard Andersen hitch which mounts to the gooseneck ball, then yes. You just need the ball got the new Ram and everything will fit right in.

I don’t have a Ram/dodge, but I used my Andersen in my 2016 and now in my 2020 gmc. If your Andersen is the gooseneck version, you just need to buy the gooseneck ball, here’s a couple of pics, I think the curt will fit but I’m not 100% sure, and the other pic is a mopar (dealer brand) but more expensive.

Call the Andersen company, they are super friendly and helpful and should be able to answer your questions and provide/sell any modifying items you need.
I have called on my hitch and a broken item and always got great help.

Yes they will help, but I really don't think that you will have any problem.

We have a 3500 on order with a mid July delivery date and with the 5th wheel prep option as well. Curious as to what Andersen said to you as far as your hitch? We will be total newbies at this and reading all we can to learn about these hitches

Check with Anderson customer service. It will depend on the version of Anderson you have. My truck did not have the puck system and we had to install a B&W turnover hitch on the truck. We bought the AUH model 3220 that attached to that arrangement.
I does very good on our short bed.

I also have the Anderson ultimate hitch. It will work great with your puck system. The great part is it only take 5 minutes to remove.

We will have the 8'cab and very excited to have a 40 pound hitch. If we end up with the pinnacle, I believe it comes with the Moride hitch and have not seen any issues there
Thank You
