Andersen Ultimate: Use the ball or the pucks?

I have a new F350 that has the factory 5th wheel prep kit including the gooseneck ball. I've decided to purchase a Andersen Ultimate Hitch. Which one should I buy, the one that uses the pucks, or the one that uses the gooseneck ball? Anybody know what the pro's and con's would be for each?

I'm replying to my own thread! I don't think I quite understood how the Andersen attaches to the pickup. I thought you could buy a puck type or a ball type. But it looks like it's either a rail type or a ball type, so ball type it is!

That's what I have. works well and I bought the Ball from Andersen. supposed to work well with the hitch. I have no complaints

I had to have the B&W turnover ball installed on my truck. It had never pulled so did not have any puck system or other means to attach a fifth wheel. We have been happy with it for over 2 years. I did purchase the new plate for my MORryde hitch as per the MORryde website. I pulled it for a year with the existing plate and don't see any difference in the pulling experience.

We have enjoyed the hitch over the Reese that we have had on our last 2 trucks.

I ordered a Andersen Ultimate Raised Hitch and it came less than a week later. Installed easily on both the pickup and 5th wheel. I hooked it up to check bed rail clearance and trailer level. The pickup sits level, the tailer is very slightly nose high (not anything like I had feared from the height of the F350), and I have about 6 1/2 inches bed rail clearance. It's a little closer in the center of the tailgate where it flares up but I think I'm set up as good as it gets. It's put away for winter but I'm excited about trying it next spring!

Fiverunner: My clearance with my truck is about the same. I use the middle hole for the hitch ball adjustment. I was concerned about it because the new trucks sit so high but was pleased when the trailer was lowered on the hitch, the truck squatted down to allow it to run just a tad nose high.

Ours , initially with the ball on the middle hole, the camper sat a tad high. Moved it to the bottom hole, and it rides at right over 6" high, and dealer was pleased with it.

I use pucks...on my B&W....I would take 4 pucks over a single ball any day.

Can't say more B&W I can hook up and breakdown in 6 to 8 minutes. Turning the ball over is what , less than 1 minute. and the bed is open. Reese goose box I due use a two step ladder to go over the truck rail to hook up and remove the chains. That's about it.

It looks solid but the one that came with the hitch has been serving me well for 2 seasons. I'll pass for now.
