Anderson Ultimate 3200 Hitch

I’m considering changing to this hitch, any input from actual users of the hitch would be greatly appreciated. The weight of the unit alone would be a great improvement, but apparently it eliminates most if not all of the chucking effect also.

Thanks in advance

Unfortunately, due to still having snow two weeks ago, I’ve only towed with mine once for about 80 miles bring the 5er home from the dealer. I have the rail mount and love it. I bought it because of the weight as I haul food for the local food pantry two days a week so the hitch will be in and out of the truck frequently. I think the rail mount looks more sturdy and secure when pinned in the truck compared to the gooseneck version. There was absolutely no chucking, clunking or anything.

Sounds good, thanks for responding. I would be getting the rail mount also.

I belong to the Ford Truck Enthusiast forum also. There is a thread going there too about using the Andersen specifically in a Super Duty.

I just switched over to the rail mounted 3200 hitch with my new rig and so far it s great. easy to hook up/disconnect. Nice and light, my 12 yo takes it in and out for me. With its size and weight I store it in the garage of my 5w when not in use.

I had a revolution w/ a reese 16k for five years on my previous unit.

I also like that with my 6.5 foot bed on my GMC I can turn 90 degrees without an issue.

good luck

jjsav - Thanks for the info, I've got a short bed also and the turning radius sounds great too. I think this is a done deal, lol.

What are you towing that allows the sharp turns? Considering this hitch as well for a 377 North Point.

This hitch can be mounted "forward or reverse". One way is for towing with a SB truck, it allows for more clearance. In most of the videos I've watched they get almost 90 degrees, a couple got an actual 90.The front cap design on the coach will effect it also.

Edit: Plus it looks like you gain a couple of inches just from the the hitch adapter. I don't have the hitch yet so I'm just going by what i see.

We have the Pull-Rite version of that type hitch, just got a better deal when looking. It's great, no chucking, easy to remove and easier to hitch then the 5th wheel plate type. Have no problem with our 6.5 bed. I don't think we would ever go back!

I agree with everyone else regarding the AUH. I also have the rails version. It's really easy to hitch and unhitch, and I can barely hear or feel anything while towing. After every trip I remove the hitch from the bed and store it in the garage which also keeps it out of the elements. I have a short bed and have no problems turning close to 90 degrees.

I just picked up a new 26.5BHS and went with the Anderson hitch. I've towed it just over 500 miles and it’s been the smoothest hitch I've ever experienced. Mine's mounted via a B&W turn over ball and with this set up, it’s easily removed and leaves an unobstructed bed. I also mounted the pin release handle to the pinbox with heavy duty magnets b/c I didn’t want to drill into my new trailer. I highly recommend this hitch.

Has anyone experienced chucking with use of the Anderson and the MORryde system?

I don’t think they’re recommended together, but my 2018 Eagle HT came with it ... so...

I get an annoying back and forth feel when traveling uphill “chucking” with out clunking; the Anderson is smooth and I love it so far, but I feel as though the “spring” (rubber) is compressing and loading /releasing causing the play I feel. MORryde didn’t give me any clear answeres. What are others experiencing?

I had a similar feeling with my Andersen and Reese Sidewinder setup on my 29.5BHDS. It’s not a clunking, but when going over bumps, bridges, or otherwise less than smooth roads, the trailer really pushes the truck back and forth. My initial thought was that a Morryde rubber Pinbox would be the solution, but the mounting wings on the trailer side won’t accommodate standard pin boxes.

So I installed LCI shocks and things are much better. The bucking isn’t completely gone, but the shocks made a big difference.

This is my first fifth wheel and I’ve always had the Andersen so it’s possible what I’m feeling is all normal.

Howdy, what magnets did you use for the pin release handle?

thanks...

I used similar magnets for my pin release. No need to drill any holes in your rig:

Good deal. Do you mind giving details on your setup?

Which camper?
Any mods to your truck or camper for height reasons?
which way are you turning the gooseneck adaptor?
which ball height setting?
4x4 truck?

I'm a newbie hooking up for the first time this week....
18 F250 CCSB 4x4 camper package, 17 26.5bhs, andersen hitch obviously

When I eyeball... it just looks real tight height wise. Truck is slightly above the camper on incline so maybe it is deceiving me. And maybe it will squat more than I think. Prepping for memorial day 1st pull and I'm nervous about scrapping bed up.....

On Andersens web site they actually show an Andersen 5th hitch being installed with the MR pin box.
