Another BMPro Tablet Question

There hasn't been one in the past couple of days so one is due. Glad I can contribute to keeping the issue active.

I changed out the battery last winter and it worked just fine all season. Due to some extenuating circumstances we had to call the camping over in early October so the Pinnacle has been parked in our garage plugged in to 50 amp since then. I went in it this past weekend and tried to use the tablet to turn on some lights. It was totally dead. Today I pulled it and brought into the house. I hooked up a charger to it and it came to life after it reached 15% charge. Right now it is up to 78% so I'm assuming the battery is okay.

Now for my question. Is there any reason I can't just keep it in the house until spring and just charge it on occasion?

Addendum: Has anyone found out anything more about the tablet with no battery?

If you are plugged in to 50A, it should have been charged 100%, so you may have an issue there. It makes no sense for it not to be charged unless the battery is acting up again. We could write a best seller book on BMPRO and its issues. My new tablet, 5-6 months old, and plugged in to 50A like yours, remains fully charged, however, It has a new glitch that is more annoying than anything else. It will work fine for a few weeks and then I can't connect via the cloud anymore. I walk out to the camper to find out the Jaycommand app has dropped off and I am looking at the google page. After manually restarting the app, all is well again.

And just like you, I am still wondering about the battery less tablet

Last night it was at 100% charge. This morning it is dead and stuck on the BMPro logo. I replaced the battery last winter so will do it again. I wish I knew what was killing these batteries but I guess even if I did there isn't anything I can do about it. Lot's of if's but I could be tempted to consider getting a fifth wheel with simpler controls. Fortunately Jayco was considerate enough to give us the ability to control all the systems by other means. The tablet is not necessary but it's just dang handy when it works.

I'm ordering a new battery today. Thank goodness they are cheap or the tablet would be headed for recycle heaven.

On edit: Just ordered the battery from Amazon and delivery is shown as Dec 15 to Jan 3. Must be coming directly from China. Glad I don't need it quickly.

I replaced my battery a month ago. I have the board with tablet in the house as the camper is winterized.
I just checked it this morning and it is still at 100%. I turned it off with a paper clip through the reset hole. I hold the switch in for a few seconds and wait for the power off or restart pops on screen. I shut it completely down and it has stayed at 100% for over a week.

I sent a message to Jayco asking about battery less tablet and I have not gotten any response.

Probably better to email the team at BmPro

If BmPro is listening and wanted to do the right thing, they could offer customers the battery-less tablet for their cost!

I think jayco should swap them out when a customer has a problem at zero cost. We should not have to be in the middle dealing directly with their chosen vendor.

I think they know they have a dud here, referring to the battery situation and why we may be seeing a battery less tablet out now, as the App itself works very well. It might bankrupt them lol

I'm not messing with it till spring. I have my second knee replacement 3 days after Christmas so that will be my priority for a while. I'm hoping if someone finds out the info on the battery less tablet it gets posted.

Ok, here is another question and unrelated to the tablet itself. A few days ago I finished winterizing the camper. I was inside with all the lights on using the #1 button on the tablet. I then proceeded to close the slides. The bedroom slide has a couple of lights on the slide itself, I think they call them reading lights. As the slide closed those lights went off, and I forgot about them being busy with other things in my mind. This morning, I am checking on the camper with the cloud connection, and sure enough, I show a fault sign, red square with tools depicted by the bed reading lights. Where do I begin to look for the issue?

I don't think these BMpro tablets are of the same high quality as the big $1,000.00 ones you buy for yourself at the electronic store. Which probably means there is no program or circuit in the BMpro to stop them from over charging. Over charging or continuous charging will kill the battery in a very short time. Though most devices that run on battery will continue to work as long as they have power but will go dead as soon as the power is gone. Also if these BMpro tablets are not using Flash memory they will loose all data store on them as soon as the power is gone.

This brings me to another question, that is, has anyone converted to or added all manual switches? Something I'm planning on doing in the Spring after the weather get warmer.

Does anyone know if it's safe to do a factory reset on the tablet? Is the bmpro software already installed when you reset or do you need to download it and will the cloud function still work after?

Not 100% sure...but I would not do that!

I would use the attached guide to troubleshoot.

My thoughts. Personally I would only do a factory reset as a last resort. Being it's running android I would almost guarantee a factory reset will likely delete everything that's an app, and the tablet would be returned to "as shipped from the manufacturer" condition. Apps will have to be downloaded and installed. Your VIN# will have to be entered into the BMPRO app for it to "know" what RV it's installed into. I would guess the cloud function should still work.

BUT, if you do a factory reset, please post your results!

I did a factory reset on mine and then had to download the software back into it , I would stick with the last resort only
